MF Twister shift encoder position feedback?

MF Twister shift encoder position feedback?

It seems that when an encoder is shifted (toggle or hold) the encoder outputs using the switch’s channel/#. But the led indicator ring does not update from the software.

I found this in the user guide:
If the encoder switch MIDI channel or number settings are changed from default the color
and animation controls do NOT change, i.e., if you change Encoder 1 in Bank 1 from channel
1 number 0 to channel 5 number 8 it will send MIDI on channel 5 number 8, but its color and
animation controls will stay at channel 1 number 0 and channel 2 number 0 respectively.

Does this mean that when the encoder is in shift mode and outputting over the switch ch/# it’s looking for feedback on the original encoder ch/# and that’s why it fails to update?

I found a couple of threads that seemed related that talked about an upcoming firmware fix. But they predate the current firmware.

MF Twister shift encoder position feedback?

I found a workaround in Ableton. Just assign the knob’s MIDI note to a stop clip function and it ignores that particulat one to send the MIDI data. Not nice, but works.

Wish to see this fixed or better configurable. Maybe I’m just missing something

That note is intended so you can use it to turn on/off other stuff, you can bypass it by telling the Track to ignore that particular MIDI channel or only listen to your note input device (rather than all devices).
