MIDI FIGHTER Banks switch alternative

Hey Guys,
i have a Question. is there a possible way to switch through the 4 banks without having to hit the banks buttons?
i have my four banks set up with cuepoints, loops, effects and stuff, and i want it to automatically jump to bank 1 when i load a new track…
any ideas?

4banks external?

Connect 4 switches to the digital expansion pins and ground. Go to MEnu mode and enable 4banks external mode. Now you have all 16 buttons available, and 4 external bank switches. Now you can make a cool case for your new extra buttons.

I should have been a lil clearer, i guess. i do have the extra buttons all wired up and installed, im just looking for a way to switch trough the banks on the software end (i.e. in the traktor controller settings). for example, when i load a track into deck A, my traktor automatically sets the deck focus on A. id like to controll the banks like this too…

You know, I think we missed that. There’s no way from MIDI to switch banks, but it sounds like sending the Bank Change MIDI notes should do that for you.

I’ll take that as a feature request…

This is a great idea! I had thought of adding it as a separate program (something to add to the updater perhaps) but it does make a lot of sense to use the bank change MIDI commands, so any program which can generate them can be used!

Bank change notes are notes 0..3, combo triggers are 8..15

There’s a full MIDI map spreadsheet we use internally that we’ll release at some point when all the secrets on it are public.

This may sound a little rude or preachy.. I don’t mean it like that at all! :open_mouth:

Short answer: Because the forum software supports it and it would be too much work to remove that feature.

Longer answer: The forum software seems to support anything a post does as part of the signature. Probably it uses the exact same code to achieve this. Making the signature support different formatting and embedding options than a post would likely be pretty dificult. Removing soundcloud altogether would be silly too, since sometimes you do want to be able to embed them as part of a post. But posting embedded soundcloud audio as part of a signature is incredibly annoying for people with slow internet, for example, or slow browsers, or if it autoplays… The solution? Simply don’t add them to a signature!

Hi:

I am interested to see if I can only use an arcade joystick to switch banks from the midi fighter spectra is this possible? What can I do to achieve this? I have everything set up but I feel like something is missing – bank change midi commands.

It would be nice to hook up any game controller and arcade joysticks (or using a pc arcade controller along with its buttons)

Page 11 of the Spectra user guide covers this bit. If you send these notes on channel 4 as MIDI out to the Spectra you can control it externally, be it via another controller, a translator or even Ableton clips.

  • Bank 1 | Ch4 C-1
  • Bank 2 | Ch4 C#-1
  • Bank 3 | Ch4 D-1

That’s a bit confusing.

  • Bank 1 | Ch4 C-1

  • Bank 2 | Ch4 C#-1

  • Bank 3 | Ch4 D-1

  • Bank 4 | Ch4 D#-1

Doesn’t match to for example

Bank 1 | Ch4 C-1 = Bank 1 (pg. 14) C1 — CC# 24

Do I need to do all of the CC#’s? For example — CC#’s 20 through 25?

Hey! Spectra will allow only Note messages for the Bank changes. If your hardware is only a CC controller then you might need to translate from CC in to Note message before sending MIDI to Spectra.

What other HID and MIDI cappable programs do you already have in your setup?
