It can have an issue if you have any other software which uses midi running at the same time, is it possible you had Traktor/Ableton etc running at the same time?
I’ve had this problem in both of the following scenarios:
Traktor, MIDI-OX or some other MIDI program was running and was already connected to the Midifighter - at least under Windows, it doesn’t seem to be possible to have more than one program connect to a given MIDI device
The USB plug wasn’t in properly - the Midifighter was powered, but communicating with it did not work properly
So check that no other MIDI software is running and that all plugs are properly connected. Also try plugging it into a different USB port.
Sorry for unburrying old post… but was the solution you used ? the so called ‘utility’ thread doesn’t seem to exist anymore and there are so many utility threads…

i have a cpu running windows 10 64 bit and the fighter 64 works on ableton but the mf ulility isnt recognizing the controller. if i turn on log and press a key on the 64 it responds

i never get the checker board pattern and i dont know how to put it into boot loader mode like the smaller unit that you hold all 4 outside keys. thanks
