Been a lurker for a while, just curious if this has been done…
I really want a midi fighter with only potentiometers or high resolution encoders. I want it to be packaged like a midi fighter. Very similar to a livid ohm code.
Now, I started playing around with my arduino and was going to hack together a shield and mount it in a midi fighter case with a custom machined top face. I then started thinking, can I use the existing midi fighter board?
I dont know what the inputs are (guessing digital) and I didnt know if the LEDs supported PWM or not. I am curious though if I can reprogram the darn thing to accept whatever inputs I need. I mean this thing has a similar processor to an arduino right? At the very least I could hack together a batchPCB board that is a clone of the MF, but is in arduino from a code perspective. It just would be so much easier if I could use a midi fighter board from scratch.
I am a mechanical engineer my trade, but I wanna start diving into this a bit more, any direction would be awesome!
I think the buttons are analog, but some of the expansion ports recently changed to digital so the buttons may have as well. I’m not 100% sure on this though.
Thanks for the links. I will check them out. I gotta dive more into the code to really see what I can do. Looks like the next couple weekends will be doing R&D.
Although how cool would it be to use push pots?You could multiplex the analogues giving you 16 for the pots and have the push pot wired to the board for the button!!would be pretty cool, just dont know the lifespan of those push pots if you start button mashing!!!
