Hey, I’m in need of some help here. I’ve been saving money to buy a really good set and I already have my eye on some Technics 1210’s and the new X1 control. The only thing I need now is a good mixer to fit into that set and run great with Traktor Scratch Pro.
numark omni control does the same stuff as the x1 with the added bonus of a jog wheel built in sound card mic monitor etc and cross fader its a great all in one unit. I would also recommend a NI Mashine great for mixing too
The genre of music will be basically House, electro house and Hip hop along with others from time to time. As far as the number of channels go… I’m pretty much stumped on that one. I’m not really sure as to get a 2 channel or 4 channel mixer since im getting the X1 control and the 1210’s. Plus I need the right mixer that can be used for scratching hip hop and mixing the electro if that makes any sense.
well, i’d recommend getting a four channel mixer for those kind of genres since you’ll probably start getting interested in four deck mixing.
there are quite a few options for you out there.
the most popular ones would be the allen&heath xone 92/42 and the pioneer djm800 (which has some midi-capabilities as well). the new denon dn-x1600 looks pretty nice too, but isnt out yet.
and the mentioned korg zero-4 and mackie d4 are also worth considering (the zero has some cool midi functions).
the ecler evo series could work for you as well.
bare in mind the korg zero’s have no 64 bit drivers still… and korg refuses to address this pitafull situation (f u korg!). My 1800 dollar zero 8 is collecting dust on a shelf… Grab a Behringer DDM4000 and slap and innofader in it!
I was looking at some of those as well. I think I’ll stick to my first pick which was the Pioneer DJM800. It’s more commonly used and I think it’ll go well with my set up. Thanks again though.
i bought the 1600 today. it took me 1 hour to set up. i use time code. and i can use all four decks.souds great and works perfect with tsp. i only have to use 2 rca’s from turntables . and i can control 4 decks with two turntables.or control with midi.
I hadn’t really noticed anything about that 1600 until I read your post so I checked it out. That mixer looks to be something I might want. So curse you for adding something else to my wants list and thanks for pointing it out.
Just FYI I saw a dirmware update on the Denon site that’s loosk fairly recent not sure if you new about it or not.
I have a Mackie D4 and love it. The filters are nice and the fader is money. Some people say that Mackie (Loud Tech) has bad customer service but not in my experience. I wanted to replace the xfader because I have beat the shit out of it with my meat hooks (hands) over the last 2 years. I called them up ,chatted a bit with them and they sent me a new one for free. They have been discontinued but you can find one on ebay every now and again. Just my 2 cents.
once again this denon mixer (1600) is the shi* , i had the 600 and the effects are better. the 4 page midi section is tight. and sound card with dvs is better than i expected. feels way better than have like 6 rca’s hooked up to the audio8. easy set up also. im not a coputer geeks and was able to hook everything in less than 1 hr. i have posted a video of the mixer and traktor working together. its a bad video , shot with my iphone, but just to get an idea of what can be done on my first day with the mixer.
watch here
one thing to take into account. Is the fact that the korg mackie and ecler mixers are traktor certified. No more fussing around with sound cards or excessive cables
