Mixtape sounds 'glitchy'

Mixtape sounds ‘glitchy’

Hi,

Lately I’ve been using Ableton to make quick mixtapes. Little to no hassle, and you can automate the tempo unlike Logic fairly easy. However, what I keep having trouble with is that some tracks sound glitchy even though they barely change bpm’s.

If a track is 120 bpm and I set it to 119 it already becomes mildly noticeable. Most people won’t hear it, but it’s bugging me. What I can do to prevent this?

I use side-chained compressors to keep the master volume in check, but other than that I don’t use any fx or plug-ins. An example can be found here starting around 3:15:

Any advice how to prevent or solve this is greatly appreciated

Read up on Warp Modes. Anything except Repitch sounds rubbish to my ears.

100% your warp mode needs to be change (Probably Beats mode by default).

If you aren’t mixing in key / using transpose definitely use Repitch mode as Patch Said - and your audio will retain its original crispness.

Otherwise you’ll need to play around with the various modes to make things sound as good as they can be.

“Beats” sounds the best of the other modes, but will create weird glitchy sounds on vocals and breakdowns (and everything else by default) complex pro is the most versatile and the biggest range, but you can lose a ton of high end clarity and bass ends starts sounding like its been packed up in cotton wool.

The glitchy sound could be caused by mixing alot of glitch hop…

I’ll get my coat…
