Moonified Mapping for VCI-100 v2.0 is here! (no overlay, 4 deck, 4 fx, Juggle, Loops)
Hi guys,
This is my v2.0 of my ‘Moonified’ Mapping for the VCI-100 (Firmware 1.3). It requires Traktor Pro version 1.2.4 or above to function.
For the latest upgrades and info, check out www.djmoonie.co.uk/traktor
This mapping requires no overlay as the buttons principally work as originally labelled. The mapping can also be made to work with older firmwares with some fairly minor modifications if you are up to it.
I used my original V1.0 (and 1.2) mappings regularly whilst gigging, and what I’ve tried to do is improve the layout and functionality of this version, and simplify certain areas, in particular FX use.
The mapping will work as a 2 or 4 deck mapping, with either 2 or 4 effects banks enabled.
For this mapping to operate correctly, you should assign FX units 1 & 2 to advanced, and (optionally) 3 & 4 to chained.
The graphic included with the tsi file should give you a pretty good understanding of how the mapping holds together, but there are some areas that deserve a little additional explaination:-
The centre buttons in the eq section of the VCI labelled ‘effect’, will turn on FX banks 1 & 3 for the left deck (A & C), and 2 & 4 for the right deck (B & D).
The small black rotaries above them, change the key of the track (labelled bal).
In the effects section of the unit (top right), the ‘select’ button selects which FX bank you wish you use. When the red LED is lit on ‘A’, the rotaries and buttons control FX Bank 1 in advanced mode. When set to ‘B’, the control passes to FX bank 2. If the LED is set to ‘mas.’ currently the controls have no function. To control FX banks 3 & 4, see FX Mode below.
On the far left of the unit, just beside the pitch slider, the loop*4 button is now the master deck toggle. Pressing this will enable decks C & D. All controls (Eq, transport, loops etc) that previously worked on decks A & B, will now affect C & D whilst this button is lit.
The other loop*4 button on the far right of the unit is currently unused.
All other buttons should work as labelled.
The major improvement in v2.0 is introducing performance modes.
To enable a performance mode, press one of the four small black buttons on the top left of the unit.
From the top down, these are:-
Loop Mode.
Juggle Mode.
Eq Mode.
FX Mode.
You must DESELECT one mode, in order to enable a different one. When a mode is enabled, the red LED next to the button will be lit.
STANDARD MODE:-
When no performance mode LED is lit, you are in standard mode. In this mode, all the transport buttons work as labelled (play, cue play, cue pause), with the exception of set cue, which I have mapped to ‘track start’ as a quick way of getting back to the start of a track after you have set your levels.
LOOP MODE:-
(Top red LED is lit).
Play → ‘Loop In’
Cue Play → ‘Loop out’
Cue Pause → ‘set loop’ (Starts a loop running to whatever length is currently set).
Set Cue → ‘Loop Active’ (Turns a loop on of off).
Whilst in loop mode, the jog wheels now increase or decrease the current loop size. (When the vinyl mode button is lit).
JUGGLE MODE:-
(Second red LED is lit).
Play → Set/Play Cue point 2
Cue Play → Set/Play Cue point 3
Cue Pause → Set/Play Cue point 4
Set Cue → Set/Play Cue point 5
EQ MODE:-
(Third red LED is lit).
Play → Eq High Kill Switch
Cue Play → Eq Mid Kill Switch.
Cue Pause → Eq Low Kill Switch
Set Cue → Eq Reset (All kills are removed, all eq’s are returned to their 12 o’clock positions).
FX MODE:-
(Bottom red LED is lit).
Play → Chained FX 1 On/Off
Cue Play → Chained FX 2 On/Off
Cue Pause → Chained FX 3 On/Off
Set Cue → Unused
(Deck A/C turns FX bank 3 on/off, Deck C/D turns FX bank 4 on/off).
Whilst in FX mode, the pitch (tempo) and volume sliders effect the chained FX Params, and the jog wheels change the wet/dry amount (When the vinyl mode button is lit). You’ll noticed that with only 2 sliders and three effects, there is currently no way to alter the param for FX no. 3 in either bank 3 or 4. I felt this was a reasonable compromise, and you can still use an effect like reverse in this slot without needing the ability to change its param.
Where sliders and rotaries have multiple functions, they should all have ‘soft takeover’ enabled, to avoid any nasty and unexpected jumps.
