Mostly Robot - electronic “super group of nerdy white males”
Oh my. Who masterminded this act? Too cool.
My only question is how do you turn an S4 into an effects tool for vocals? Routing the mic through it? I mean, you can’t do effects to the mic input, can you, other than through the loop recorder. Right?
You’ll definitely have to loose a deck for live vocal input that is meant to be processed with effects if you want to record internally.
Another workaround would be routing vocals into Ableton Live or another VST host and processing the vocals with Traktor’s 12, a bunch of Traktor’s effects being sold seperately. Then you would record vocals seperately in Ableton and your 4-deck mix in Traktor. This would require some work after having finished the mix though. Just a workaround which I wouldn’t prefer over loosing a deck in Traktor.
ed paris aint nuthin to fuck with
no but seriousl. it´s been quite some time since sam and i met. so i thought this would be a good chance to enjoy some quality time with the übermaster.
Did it actually say on the blog? I just noticed when I watched the vid on the blog that every single product they talked about using was an NI product and all I could think of was, “oh, well I guess it’s kind of clever marketing by NI.” It also made me wonder if the visuals part of the show was an NI beta product.
As for the group itself - the idea seems kind of cool. They’re all pretty creative and talented guys. What I’m a bit confused about though is where the actual collaboration comes from. The only part of the vid where they actually mentioned working together was one of them (Jamie maybe?) mentioned using Shiftee’s scratching sounds as a sample; otherwise it just looked like each one of them soloing. Still, NI marketing ploy or not, I’m interested to see where this goes.
