Mounting moving heads.
I am in the process of designing my light show in DMX software because the sound active program causes me to get blinded by my moving head wash lights. (110 watt led rgbaw x8)
My solution was to mount them on top of the T-bar tripod and raise them up so they never shined down. If I were to hang them upside down they would cover the dance floor (and I could dim them for smaller crowds) but I would be limiting the range of motion because I would program them to not shine back at my booth. I was wondering if there is any reason why I can’t “side-mount” these lights at 90 degrees so the feet of the light face back at me and when the light is pointed completely vertical in program it would shine at the far wall (instead of the ceiling or the floor)
When I google searched it all I found was some 12 year old DJ assuring me it was the best way to mount a moving head light in his YouTube video. A little more research revealed what is known as a side arm bracket.
What’s the best way to go on this? These mini movers are heavy to lift by hand I was thinking of getting some air powered light stands so a new stand is not out of the question.
Your input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
