My Mod: NOI Control 1
A few months ago, I posted a thread about a mod that I wanted to get some feedback on.
I didn’t get a response, so I decided start on it anyway.
I call it the NOI Control 1, because the original midi controller that it is based on the Ion Audio iCue that I bought a few years back. It is also frankensteined together with a Numark M1USB and a USB HUB that I also bought on the cheap.
Concept Drawing:
I wanted the controller to fit inside of a large box, so that it would be portable and functional. Since this is my first midi controller, I wanted the box to be easy to work on (plastic). The box I used is actually a 1U ABS rack server.
The mixer was pretty easy to take apart and had only 3 PCBs inside that controlled everything.
The midi controller was another thing, though. Hours were spent trying to tear this mofo apart. Interesting thing is the ABS casing has holes that are similar to a Numark Total Control.
I may do away with the jogwheels on the final design. They take too much space and may be too big for the box.
