Timing, A great DJ has impeccable timing.
In response, a bladder of steel. Nothing is more stressful, painful and distracting than going through a 4 hour mix with a bladder full of energy drinks.
Save at least one bottle/can and you’re fine. 
Professionalism - the ability to be polite and friendly no matter how drunk/painful/retarded/angry a punter is - keep it pro.

Being able to handle stress.
There’s always something happening that fucks your mind up, such as equipment suddenly refusing to work or annoying and/or drunk people harassing you to play the Spice Girls while you try to make a decent mix. I’ve had beginner DJs at my side that at a certain point just bursted out in tears and started throwing with stuff because they couldn’t handle it anymore…

Had to tell my good friend’s wife and a cute Australian girl (who was down with me!!) to do that at a wedding. Completely ruined my chances that evening as the Australian proceeded to badmouth me in front of all of the bridesmaid’s friends.

I’ve always said that “DJ’s are librarians with good hand ear coordination”. That was a while ago though so I think now I would update that with “and looks good in a hat”.
I’ve watched sasha leave the booth to take a leak…foturnately, the people in the bathroom let him jump to the front of the line for the urinals.
And to solve problems quickly without interrupting the music.
I’ve repatched sound systems, soldered cables, fixed computers, burned CDs, called cops/security, and put out a fire while spinning or doing live sound stuff. (the fire was really small…cigarette thrown into bushes started smoldering at an outdoor band party).
A true love of music.
Initially doesn’t sound surprising until you meet some wannabe DJ types.
