Need help on how to calibrate VU-meters on Rane Empath

Hi everyone,

I just registered on here because I’m having an issue with my mixer.

I already asked for help on DJ related subreddits but haven’t had a reply so far, so I figured I’d try asking here:

I’m seeking for guidance on how to “calibrate” the VU-meters on my beloved Rane Empath.
I recently took everything apart to apply some Deoxit on all the pots and faders, and after reassembly I noticed that one side of the VU-meter is louder than the other by a couple decibels.
I must have knocked one of the two yellow plastic screws that control the VU-meter at some point.
Can anyone suggest a procedure to fix this? Should I just fiddle with it and eyeball it?

I’m afraid I will not be able to match both sides 100% because of the 2db increments on the VU-meter (one side could be 1db louder and I wouldn’t see it for example), I don’t know which side got louder/weaker and I don’t want to exceed the original 0db value or alter the tension on the mains if that makes sense?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Do you know which one of the two is correct? If yes play a 1k sinwave (use any daw or something like this to generate it) and match the incorrect one to the other.

if you don’t know which one reads correct then you might need to hook up a multimeter and give this a go to ensure a correct reading on the meters.
