Need some help choosing my DJ gear!
Hi guys!! I’m considering on buying a new gear.
Currently, I’m playing on my Hercules DJ 4SET + Hercules DJ Control MP3 e2 (the e2 has been remapped by me on traktor to use gain, filter, effects and so on..)
Currently, my budget is about 600$, I’m considering either the Pioneer DDJ-SR or the Traktor Kontrol S4-Mk2 as a Digital DJ Setup.
Also I was looking for something standalone, here I’m looking for 2 Gemini CDJ 650 + Behringer DJX 900
I’m not an expert on hardware, so, I would like to get some help deciding (I prefer a standalone setup).
My questions are, with the Gemini CDJ 650, is it possible to use Rekordbox or a program like that to set Cue points and check the BPM or Beat grid?
Would you recommend a controller instead of a Standalone setup?
Huge thanks!! (Sorry for my bad english, i’m spanish)
rekordbox is designed for Pioneer gear, so I doubt cue points will transfer over to other hardware.
What music will you be playing? Have you looked at preowned gear? You might get a bargain…
Also be careful buying Gemini CDJs. You might have a harder time reselling them in the future.
DDJ SR…but if you can save up a bit more I would say hold out for a DDJ-SX2. This will give you 4 channels and the ability to use digital or analogue equipment. Or you could use it as a 2 channel controller with a set of turntables or external sources like cdjs.
Answering you guys
Hi, first of all, thanks for replying.
To answer the first question, I’ve allways played with Traktor, but I don’t regret Serato, in fact, I’m interested on trying it.
The kind of music that I play is mainly EDM and some HipHop/Scratch.
I’ve looked for something already used but anything was that cheap as the Gemini’s CDJ’s
Thanks again for helping!!
Look at Denon CD decks. They make some nice stuff. I Wouldn’t worry too much about reselling. That’s not a good reason to avoid gear that would otherwise be suited to your needs. I’d suggest looking at the S4. Reloop do some nice controllers as well.
