New Audio 6 vs used Audio 8?

Yes you do this through the audio 6 control panel. Traktor doesn’t need to be open.
Remember the power adaptor is optional with the TA6 (obviously you need it plugged in for Direct Thru mode) however you do need the power adaptor with the TA10 regardless.

really? that’s stupid, so you have to have your laptop and traktor running? then it really doesn’t do anything.

I thought the thru meant they implemented something like how a serato box functions and thru actually meant independent of software..

edit:

so after you set it in the panel then you can disconnect usb? I still think they should have done away with a software setting switch.

Exactly my point! Why the hell isn’t this just a switch on the front of the box!

Has anyone seen the Hercules DVS sound card?

That is what the NI cards should look like! Look how much control you get from the box itself! NI are sacrificing features and usability for looks in a very apple type move…

I really want some information on the audio quality and how well it plays with alsa and if it’s all good I will buy the fucker in a heart beat.

In the control panel you can set the Audio 6 to start in direct thru mode, so next time you can plug it in, no laptop required and it will already be in direct thru mode. I just tried this out.

A switch of some kind would make things a lot simpler though!

Yeah. You already got scratch 1.

For me it was

Audio 8 (2nd hand) £200
Scratch upgrade £250
Total £450

Or

Audio 6 £300
Traktor scratch upgrade £250
Total £550

Or

Traktor scratch pro 2 with audio 10
Total £499

Not a lot in it price wise so I went for brand new shit.

Re thru. If sc is plugged in and no computer is connected it automatically runs thru. If you have it running in traktor in control mode then you click the deck and select it in drop down. It’s not hard

I dont get why people are hating on the multicores and why people love the thru mode of the A6.

With multicores and an A8 you simply switch to phono and that passes through all the sound regardless of whether your soundcard is on or not. No settings, no bullshit, just sound. Why do I need a through mode?

If the audio 8 is connected but the computer is powered down can you still play vinyl?

As I understand it you can’t. You need to rewire the decks back directly into the mixer.

Maybe I am wrong about this…

With an audio 10 you can still play vinyl/cds even if the computer is not connected.

So you just have 1 x RCA cable per deck coming out of the sc into the line if the mixer but it works same for both vinyl and digital

Yeah but a splitter cable is a much more simple solution than the direct through. It also allows you to disconnect your soundcard and do whatever you want without stopping the music.

I need to re-test this but im 99% sure its a yes. The multicores are essentially an overpriced splitter cable. But it keeps it all in one nice little bundle. Theres nothing I hate more than fucking around with un-labelled RCA’s in the back of a mixer, especially when youre live!

this^^

idk, splitter cables are big and bulky

yeah fuck carrying these http://www.avforums.com/forums/attachments/interconnects-speaker-cables-switches/174272d1271013531-splitting-rca-signal-stackable-cable-input-output-1414_1.jpg :stuck_out_tongue:
