New DJ = New COntroller
Hi
I am a DJ just starting out, been at it for a few months and am currently looking for a midi controller that i can use
i was thinking of either the vestax VCI 100 or the VCI 300
what would have to say about these controllers, of any suggestions

i would go for the vci-100, its a good multi purpose controller and obviously there are a few experts floating around here that can help you out with whatever you need.
Yo Murdy, I would def 1-up Jesse on this one.. Just got myself a VCI Arcade and been loving it to bits 
so multi purpose - even though it has all the basics, there’s a lot of potential for creativity there..

if u are just starting out i would go for a cheaper solution than vci & audio whatever. at first i just had my keyboard for a year or so…then i wanted more so i decided to egt my self a cheap solution and made a lucky shot on ebay (bcd 3000 for 35€…and after using this one for a half year i got me some other stuff. i think this was the best decision i made, because in my my eyes it doesn´t make sense to invest so much money when u/me/he/she/it are/is not knowing if it will just be a hobby for the bedroom or more…

I actually agree with EP. If you are just starting out I’d go with a more basic option, something so you can get the hang of DJing, and build yourself into the style you want.
You also need to decide what kind of technique you want to use.
What kind of music do you want to spin? Do you want to scratch? Do you want to get into controllerism? Do you want plug and play or complete customization? Only after you know these things, and we do too, can we help you

and +1 on the vci 100
i started out with the vci-100 and i guess i could as well have started out with an oxygen8 or even an lpd8. so the key question is really whats your budget and what do you want to do and how much time you have. a vci-100 is awesome if you really want to spend a lot of time to dig deep. but if all you want is some basic tactile control then the ldp8 will be great and let you do a bit of beat juggeling and fx magic as well. if you have a bit more money then the oxygen8 is a great intermediary step.
as for soundcard i would really recommend the audio 2 dj for starting out. if however you also want to mess with a synth, i would grab the oxygen8 with an audio kontrol 1. the ak1 also gives you a free synth from NI. both give you traktor le, which means you pay only half for traktor pro.
@JesterNZ, no trying to work out a way to merge the TSIs atm! using both, but loving the VCI
I’ve actually just sorted my mate out with the Oxygen 8 setup with TP for just over £170. I used an Oxygen with my own mapping for ages, and now I use it with a modified version of Eans mapping - and it’s always served me well Cheap and sturdy option
+1 At Dvls’ post: it depends on what your budget it and what kind of music you play. The VCI + Audio 2 combo is pushed here, not without good reason, because that’s what a lot of people have. If you think you’re serious about DJing, even just as a hobby, the VCI and Audio X combo will last you for as long as you treat it well. If you don’t quite have the money for that, though, you could consider looking at the Hercules RMX (which was my first ‘DJ’ controller) or Steel. If you’re looking to spend even less, try looking at the Korg Nano products or the Akai laptop controllers. You could likely get all the control you’d need from a Korg nanoKontrol and an Akai LPD8.
Unless you want to scratch, in which case your best options are one of the VCI controllers, the Numark NS7, or just getting turntables.

Hey guys thanks I am looking into getting the VCI 100 and audio , but i was just wondering what is type of music is SPIN? and whats the difference between scratching?
well the spin is sort of a “cheap” vci-100 with an integrated audio interface. i havent heard much about the quality of the audio interface, but the unit itself seems quite decent. the bundled djay software is also quite nice .. very easy to use yet very powerful (even has a sampler that TP doenst have). its new .. so nobody can really talk from experience.
