New Macbook Pros coming?

they released new macbook’s 93 days ago. the average between releases is 263

they aren’t releasing new MacBooks anytime soon. i don’t have the slightest idea where you got the idea that they were.

Thanks for stating the obvious.

Did you read the thread? I’ve seen rumors all over stating something could be coming in Q2, but nothing legit.

Sorry man but seeing that avatar next to your name still freaks me out.

i am currently pretty content with my 2010 13 inch macbook pro (2.4 ghz C2D, 8GB ram, 750GB HDD) but my processor is starting to show its age when analyzing files or loading maxed out ableton projects

as soon as the new 15 inch macbook pro with a full hd screen (1920x1080) comes out i am upgrading, really cant stand the resolution of my 13 inch macbook pro anymore, after getting used to my desktop imac 21 ( full hd screen) i find 1280x800 resolution becomes unbearable

oh and bonus points if its gonna be nearly as thin as the mb airs

those mac blogs NEED to post every rumor they see. its how they generate traffic and the ad money pays their salaries etc. apple doesn’t let ANYTHING slip. you have to take those rumor sites with a HUGE grain of salt for that reason.

i had a 27" imac and 13" macbook pro about 13-14 months ago. something like that. i sold them because of a rumor that was SURE touchscreen mac’s were coming out in the next 6 months. those touchscreen mac’s ended up being the magic trackpad.

don’t make the same mistake i did. rely on distance between releases. its the only solid thing thats proven itself over time in that regard.

Yeah that’s why I’m leaning on getting it sooner than later. I can’t wait until the end of Q2 (June) which is my guess when they will be out. That would put them around the number of days for a new release…but still too long.

If the average is 263 days, you’re around 170 days from a new one.

I don’t believe every rumor either, but considering the ivy bridge processors and 8 million pixel displays are right around the corner, I would guess there will be a fairly substantial update coming out later this year.

The last update wasn’t that major, just a small processor bump and minor changes.

I can’t see apple not updating when the processor they want to put into future MBP’s will be releasing in the spring.

You can literally spend your whole life waiting on apple updates

Then it’s a case of not buying 1st gen (1st gen macs, or anything = no thanks) so wait on that.

The macbook pros out now are nice, just get one.

Even if you wait and get the one you want, in another 6 months you will feel there’s something out of date on it.

It’s how apple do… in fact all tech companies (especially NI) roll like that. It’s capitalism in action.

There is no end.

Stop the technology train I want to get off

This! There is always something coming. We’ve reached the point now that if you’re not doing strenuous video production or gaming, there’s a good chance a well taken care of laptop/computer will last you awhile.

Technology is still moving forward quite quickly, but what we currently have is going to last and still be able to keep up with standard user functions for quite sometime.

A MBP you buy today will most likely last you another 3-5 years. Do you really need a rumored retina display, do you really need an ivy bridge processor…probably not.

However, waiting does have its upside…just think if you would have bought a 3D HDTV a year ago, you would be stuck with those crappy battery operated glasses. Now they’re coming out with the same technology as theaters where you use regular glasses/no batteries. Next up, no glasses at all! But again, how long do you wait and how much is the wait worth?

They just updated the CPU models with a couple of Mhz+ & there’s a new ATI graphics chip with more RAM. This update was a silent one and as minor as it could be. It’s just a simple follow-up of the industry’s shift. Still, it’s the same models, just with a set of up-to-date components.

I think they will release a major update with the Ivy Bridge and they will be one of the very first to offer Ivy.

Oh, and BTW, I need a new Mac since my wife spilled out damn fanta on our good old 13" C2D MBP last week. It’s a brick for now, but I still hope a repair will be possible … i miss it

I bought my 8GB of RAM off NewEgg for $45. Not that you ever need that much, but yes, buying RAM from Apple is absolutely stupid.

I doubt they will refresh the entire macbook line (but could be wrong).

I CAN see them adding a 15/17’ air though

I CANT see the resolution on their laptop line going up anytime soon, perhaps on the iPad.

I CANT see a major increase in horsepower for the next 12months like the jump we saw with core i

Its not all about DPI its about perceived DPI deponent on distance, a phone warrants higher DPI due to it being held closed than a monitor so a monitor only requires a lesser % increase in pixels to achieve the same thing as iPhones retina (It was Jobs or Cook I believe said this before).

The Air’s/Pro’s at this point are ridiculously fast machines .. I’d just get one if you need one, or wait around and buy the next incarnation within a week of release so you KNOW you have the latest version. The only people who probably regret doing that are those with their Alu MacBooks which were a discontinued line pretty fast (still rocking machines though).

[quote]4gb upgrade for me us $200 USD…huge ripoff. 500 to 750gb HD is ony $100 USD.

You would be surprised at the number of people who simply don’t know how to change a stick of Ram or know where to buy it at bargain prices, for them its a lot easier to get the manufacturer put it in for them and know they won’t break anything.

A whole can of lager emptied out into my iBook some years ago… It was just the logic board that needed replacing.
Unfortunately AppleCare does not cover spillage.
Fortunately my girlfriend worked at the Apple Reseller and she knew the repair guys so he slipped it in under the radar and fixed it.

Phew.

Aslong as my new macbook can run smoothly with traktor for next 5 years i have no need to buy a new laptop. I just got my macbook 4 days ago.

@ExTrCt, pleas remove the soundcloud links in your sig. They are not allowed.

I’m still rocking my alu. Only reason i don’t like it is cause… it looks old.

Everything else about is sweet. Runs Traktor like a rock and sends emails like a mutha fukka

Same here my MBP 2.16/3GB runs the latest Traktor like a dream.
Gonna flog it to fund the new 13" though as its a 2006 so its getting a bit old for a backup machine should i need it plus my mate wants it so its makes a good deal for us both.

i’m looking at getting a macbook in about a month but know pretty much bugger all about the platform, haven’t used a mac in maybe 15 years.

i really like the idea of a macbook pro with 13.3" screen but uk prices seem a bit more than the ones mentioned in this thread? is 1100gbp about the going price for a mbp with 4gb ram, 500gb hdd, i5 @2.4GHz?

Ughhh I’m close to pulling the trigger, but now considering the 13" 128gb Macbook Air.

My main reasons reasons for updating were my current white MB is flat out old and I don’t want to have to gig with an external HD. I wanted 500gb or more of internal storage.

But the Air’s are so damn sexy. Decisions, decisions!

Is the solid state drive storage all its cracked up to be?

i’m not sure which to choose between the mbp or air either… i do kind of like the air from what i’ve seen but maybe more storage is handy… tho i keep most of my stuff on external drives anyway - an air should have enough space for a decent amount of mp3’s…
