MF+S4 Buddy v0.3 Incl MF_FX 4Banks 1.0.2.zip
v0.2 now available – all feedback welcome. After actually using this in practice for awhile, I’ve re-thought how the effects should work. I developed a structure to support 8 pages of effects, 4 buttons each. Next revision will start to fill out the effects pages.
v0.2
Removed the ability to delete hot cues (from Deck A or B) when in Sample Deck mode. Since Shift is being used to stop the playing sample, there was too much chance to accidentally delete hot cues. You can still shift+delete hot cues in Deck A or Deck B mode.
Created 8 pages for effects: selectable by the bottom 8 buttons when Deck A, B and Sample 1&2 modes are OFF. Effects are activated from the top 4 buttons.
Top row LEDs no indicate the select effects page versus if an effect is on or off. This was confusing anyways since setting effects on the S4 directly would light the LEDs on the MF.
v0.1
Initial release
Hello All,
I’m happy to share a new Midi-Fighter mapping to compliment the S4. Consider it a v0.1 release.
Objective: Map the Midi-Fighter to improve on where the S4 can be a bit clunky. Namely: hot cues, sample triggering and effects loading. Since I wasn’t exactly sure how I (or you) would use the MF in combination with the S4, I tried to make it as flexible as possible. Additionally, to avoid the deck focus confusion that seems to be exhibited by TPS4 mappings, I wanted an easy way to move between decks. Finally, since the current S4 version doesn’t handle 4 effects panels well (i.e. loosing the ability to assign FX1 and 2 to a single deck), I’ve implemented all the effects in FX1 and FX2.
I’d appreciate any feedback, bugs or feature requests. There’s only a handful of effects loaded in (suggestions welcome), and there’s plenty of space (i.e. when all the deck and sample deck selectors are off) to add new features.
No diss to the current traktor midi-fighter mappings, but on the s4 they just don’t cut it.
I was waiting for something like this.
I think it would be sick if you could fill that effect’s page out.
Maybe even making shift + fx pg1 = fx pg 2, wooooooo more effects.
I would like to see 4 buttons for gater at rising values, same for beat-masher.
You really could do that with a few effects and I would love you forever, like two more on that “fx pg 2” I was talking about.
The green buttons in the map image indicate that button is activated. I struggled a bit to represent everything in the image, but it should be pretty straight forward when you test it out.
my MF died and waiting for a new pcb (is that the correct word?) I will try it as soon as I get it.
Is anyone working on .tsi to make a S4 more like the old VCI-100 se ie jog effects?
I’ve been experimenting with all sorts of different effects methods: custom S4 midi maps (involve faders/jogs), Ableton Live and the Midi Fighter but haven’t really found what I like yet.
I MIGHT be on to something pretty sick, and I’ll be ready to share soon. It’s several custom control surfaces for Midi Touch for the iPad. I’ve got a concept demo done that works pretty bad ass. I guess I’m trying to find something that is easy to use, but allows a different sound than the same old effects combos.
Ultimately, I believe I’ll map simple favorite effects presets into the Midi Fighter that I’ll manipulate manually on the S4 (versus using it to trigger instant effects). Then, use either the iPad (or maybe the S4 midi mode) to work with more complicated effects sets (tying several buttons/knobs together, etc.).
In the meantime, enjoy the current tsi for cues and samples. I’ve been using it a ton and really like how it’s put together.
Don’t understand why I can’t edit the original post!
