new to the traktor game with kontrol s2. having major issues, please help!
Old school sl1200 guy here. I just picked up a s2 for a overseas trip I’m going on, it came without software but I was able to download traktor 2.5. The s2 also came without a ac adapter, guitar center guy mentioned it was usb powered also.
software is installed and seems to work, kontrol s2 does nothing except flash the usb light. I have tried watching numerous videos/reading lots of threads but can not get this thing to work for the life of me. I installed the s2 maps and tried changing numerous settings but the controller does not kontrol anything but my wallet.
plug and play I thought, very wrong I was.
I read something about setting the in-out ports to something but I don’t have any options to select in the in-out port selection. Really getting frustrated here, please helpppp.
Sorry to hear of your trouble. Both the S2 and S4 can be USB powered but the back lighting tends be dimmer, so it’s prefereable to run off mains. I also found I got some audio interference when powering via USB after forgetting to switch on mains power.
Regarding the flashing ‘!’ I presume from your message the S2 is not doing anything at all? Did you install the software BEFORE plugging in the S2, via USB, to the computer? This is absolutely critical as the OS will try install incorrect drivers and therefore the S2 won’t ‘talk’. I’m not sure what the retrospective solution is other than to uninstall all of the Traktor s/w, reinstall, then plug in the S2.
Thanks for the reply. I got the unit recognized by my computer by using a shorter usb cable. The usb light is no longer flashing and s2 control panel shows the unit is connected. However the unit is still not useable, I can play music out of it’s sound card and that’s about it.
I have traktor 2.5
installed the s2 driver version 3.03
have the dtt s2 maps loaded
anything I’m missing here? this is rocket science compared to hooking up 2 turntables and a mike.
when Traktor is up and running and you have the in/out ports set to Kontrol S2 press a button or move a fader and see if the little blue light left of the clock does anything. Have you installed controller editor as well?
You could install Controller Editor, Connect it to S2, then start Traktor>prefrences>controller editor>add new>generic midi. Set in/out to Kontrol S2. Check for little blue light again.
You said that you were able to download Traktor Pro 2.5. Did you download it officially or did you acquire it by “other means?” Based on a friend’s experience in a similar situation, the installer probably didn’t come with any drivers.
I lost hope and returned the unit. I acquired traktor pro 2.5 by “other means”, possibly my issue. Who knows now…Thanks for the replies dudes, I initially figured these forums were dead.
