Really , that cheap . That is 200 smackers cheaper than UK.
Are you sure its the FIREBOX and not the AUDIO BOX which is the USB version of the Firebox.
I think many of them on eBay have opened boxes or are B-Stock. Who cares if it works and isnt used its a bargain.
Dude BUY IT. that is a bargain. You are covered by certain eBay rules called ‘Distance Selling’ so id be happy to risk it.
Seriously i have battered mine for 2 years , i dont even put it in a box , i literally throw it on top of my other gear. You cant break these things.
As for latency, no such thing as Zero latency really. yeah the Audio 4 has ‘very low latency’ . If you wanna get geeky the Firebox has better latency but with either card theres no latency worries.
If you dont use timecode you will NEVER regret buying a Firebox.
If mine broke id buy another the same day its that good.
At that price I think the decision is made for you.![]()
Taxes - they should mark it as a gift then your cool. i didnt pat tax on my Traktor Scratch, make sure the Tax issue is sorted. Some sellers offer to pay the tax if you get hit. You should be cool.
Noooo you can get them for about £230 - £250 in the UK
Look … Google Search
And then rechecking on ebay its actually a refurb and is about 140 plus shipping
Would i have to pay extra on top of this though when it enters the country ?
Cheers
LOL dude thats what i meant . I wrote £200 , meant £100.
Your getting a good deal.
I doubt you will get hit with tax. Just email the seller and make sure they mark it as a gift.
I paid £260 for mine about 2 years back.
Why not bid on this one:
hahaha i thought that was a bit steep.
Yeah sounds like it they got 9 available to if anyone else is interested also just noticed its buy it now or best offer so he open to taking less than that for it.

I just went through the same debate, and ended up with a firebox on craigslist for 80 bucks.
I had to order the power supply another $30, because my 4 pin does not support it, and I might still end up with a card another $60 bucks if this 4 pin port is shit on my laptop. At 200 and 250, how many outputs do you need, and will you want to time-code?
That’s the thing I really do like the sound of time code but not ready at the moment
With the audio 4 its only 2 outputs that I can run into a mixer, is that right but with the firebox I could have 3??
Yeah thats right about the outputs.
It sounds like you may want to try timecode at some point but i wouldnt let this put you of the Firebox just yet. Looks like you can get one at a great price.
You can always get a second hand Audio 4 or 8 if and when you want to use timecode and sell the Firebox, they are always i demand.
Personally i like having 2 soundcards so i have a backup.
Dude BUY the firebox.
I don’t want to hijack the thread, but I’ve been debating upgrading my soundcard. I was leaning towards the Audio4, but this Firebox has me all hot and bothered. Question is, will I notice that much of a difference in audio quality between a Firebox and my Echo audiofire2?
Technically not they are both 24-Bit/96k just like the Audio4.
Id hazard a guess that the Firebox is louder. Most owners say they are louder than anything else they use. Id certainly agree with that.
The Echo is a good little soundcard.
The Firebox has much more to offer by the way of Inputs/Outputs and connectivity than the Echo but i guess you already know that.
I think people expect a more expensive soundcard to have some magical quality but they dont they just deliver better sound at higher volumes which, if your gonna play in big rooms is essential.
Ive used my Firebox at gigs up to 4000 people . Its a Pro piece of kit.
[i should get commission from Presonus for all this advertising hah]
Its the same question. Do you use or may want to use Timecode ? The Audio 4 is an awesome soundcard. You cant go wrong with one.
Theres sorta no answer to which one is better really. Its all down to how your gonna use it.
not all firewire is equal, be ready to buy a pci express card for your laptop.
@ MisterMoleyMole, what laptop have you got. have you got a 6pin FireWire Port ?
Hi Karlos,
Your like a dog with a bone on thsi one aint you
You sure your not on commision hahah ![]()
Anyway i have the mini firewire port its a dell so its the lickle tiny port, not sure about the 4 + 6 pin you mention. Never really done much with firewire before.
G
Hahaha no i just like helping people buy the right kit.
Right , hmm thats why neworleansTECH says you may need a PCI card as the Firebox uses a 400 port. You can get 6pin to 4pin leads but im not sure if that will always work. It should but id check first.
You may need that card that BentoSan mentions on page 2 just for piece of mind.
Eye very much appreciated it is to!
I did actually mail the guy on ebay and he wont add the item as gift which i find really hard to understand as he said he will lower the value !! surely hes more likely to get caught out lowering the value than he is saying its a gift! … so anyway now i’m umming and aaaring due to the fact that i can’t really find any solid evidence that states how much i could get stung for duty.
What a fuckked up world we live in where it appears that they can just charge whatever they feel like charging ! ! !
Thats bonkers. Hes not responsible for the Tax so its not a problem marking it as a Gift. Thats what ALL overseas sellers do. Id be wary cus the Tax will a big hit on an item of that price. If its equal to VAT in will be about 45quid.
This seller could be a dick. Is it ProAudioStar ? They look pretty good. Im surprised.
I got my Traktor Scratch from US .If id have had to pay Tax id have been screwed.
If it’s a small 4 pin, you definately need an expresscard firewire adapter if you want to power the soundcard from your laptop. If you’re fine with powering it externally, a 4-to-6 pin cable will do, but be aware that they pop out of the 4pin firewire port fairly easily
But then again, so does the expresscard adapter if you accidentally hit it from the side - it just ejects… both has happened to me more than once..
Again, if you’re thinking about timecode, there’s no way around NI’s soundcards.. sadly.
