Novation Remote Zero SL mapping

Novation Remote Zero SL mapping

Hi Folks,

With the advent of TPro 1.2, I’ve decided to scrap my current mapping for my Remote Zero, and start from scratch.

I’m wondering if there’s enough interest in this controller for me to share my work here, or if there are people that would be interested in collaborating on this?

There are a few things that make this controller really appealing to me:
-A great combination of drum pads, buttons, sliders, rotary encoders and potentiometers
-Supports multiple templates, so you could easily have one template for prep work at home, and another one for performing out. Switch between the two with a simple twist of a knob.
-It is very simple to configure the messages the controller sends for just about any control on the unit. No having to wait for Firmware Upgrades from Ean.

I expect that all of the Remote SL series would be able to use the same mappings (SL, SL Compact, SL Zero, as well as the new mkII series).

So, who’s interested?

cheers!

m.

i just recently got novation remote sl25 mk2. would really love a proper mapping for this one. maybe its even better than playing with vci100? tho i dont have ANY mapping knowledge, so i will just be the user of this one
good idea mate!!!

i can test on my remote sl25 as well. I can work on some mappings as well, time permitting.

ooh, that would be cool

by the by, anyone with a 25SL Mk II - how are the flashy lights? I thought they might get confusing with Traktor (as opposed to a DAW) - for toggle buttons, do the lights stay on etc?

I think this is a good Idea. I just got a remote sl 25 and spend a few hours mapping it for virtual Dj. I know your probably looking for traktor maps but I can provide a VDJ map for VDJ users.

I will take a VDJ map please.

I have a Remote SL25 and I would really love a good two channel setup. I’m coming from Ableton so this would help me hit the ground running.

Mapping for TP 1.1 for 25SL MkII

Hi!

I’ve got my Novation 25SL MkII today and couldn’t help but making a quick mapping for it. I’m not sure I knew what I was doing but it seems to work.

Please note: This mapping is for Traktor Pro 1.1.1, not the 1.2 version.

To use it, disable “automap” and choose the “Learn” template (by clicking on the speed dial and pressing the upper / right encoder). Then, import the .tsi in Traktor Pro and play away.

The configuration:

Pots 1-4: EQ High / EQ Mid / EQ Low / Filter for Deck A
Pots 5-6: EQ High / EQ Mid / EQ Low / Filter for Deck B

Fader 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 : Volume for Deck A / B / C / D
1st button below Fader 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 : Play/Pause for Deck A / B / C / D
2nd button below Fader 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 : Cue to Headphones for Deck A / B / C / D

Fader 8: Crossfader

I’m not really happing with the FX handling yet, maybe you guys have better ideas? Here’s my first shot. The mapping assumes, that Slot 1 is set to cascade and Slot 2 to advanced.

Encoder 1: Dry/Wet Slot 1
Encoder 2-4: Parameters Slot 1
Encoder 5: Dry/Wet Slot 2
Encoder 6-8: Parameters Slot 2

My questions:

  1. What’s completely missing is support for loops – I’d like to have that but am not sure how. 1a) Also, I’m not happy with the FX yet. There’s still a lot of buttons left unassigned on my 25SL MkII, maybe you have some suggestions?

  2. Also, I’d like to be able to scroll through my songs quickly – but where would I map that? I tried using an encoder for scrolling up and down, but this didn’t work out. Either, I could only scroll through 10 songs. Or there were big gaps between the scrolling.

  3. How can I make the 25SL show the parameter names / How can I make this mapping work in my 25SL in Automap mode?

All the best,

René

Work as they should! When setting to “hold”, I can for example use one of the buttons for play / pause. When playing, the button is lit. When paused, it’s dim.

Same is true for the encoders (at least for Traktor Pro 1.1.1 which I am using).

I have been working and reworking mine… Finally got it somewhat like i want! I have the remote 25sl.. using the internal mixer as well… i wish i had a few extra knobs and faders but it seems to work really well for what i want done!!! I will post my map later…

Hey Folks,

I was wondering who else here uses the Remote Zero…

I’ve attached my tsi for a Remote Zero SL, mark 1, for folks that are interested. This is for Traktor 1.1.1. I can upload the tsi I’m using for Traktor 1.2 tomorrow. A couple of general things:

  1. I use the Remote Zero SL along with a Novation Nocturn. When you see anything routed through Channel 16 on my tsi, that’s for the Nocturn.

  2. The Remote Zero controls four decks, full EQ and faders, bass kill, filter off and on as well as loops, syncing, cue and play functions as well as effects on and off and pitch bending (nudging really when sync hasn’t totally locked something in). I use the drum pads to jump ahead to cue points in my tracks. I use limited modifiers.

  3. The Nocturn controls all the effects in slots 1 and 2. The crossfader isn’t assigned, but I think I could make good use of modifiers to change it into a fader effects tool.

  4. My next bit of homework is to use modifiers to program the drum pads to jump to hot cues. Right now, I’ve found jumping forward (while the track is playing) or jumping (or needle dropping to a cue point) before the track is playing is sufficient.

When I downloaded Traktor 1.2, I imported this map without any problem and had my controllers up and running again in 10 minutes. I have two keyboard shortcuts as well for browsing tracks and displaying the effects units / enlarging decks C & D.

Rene - You asked about modifying the led readouts on your Remote. I did all of this through the template editor I downloaded off of the Novation site. I could type all the names of my assigned controls and it exported it straight to the controller. I’m not sure if this can be done with the Mark II.

Automap has to be turned on for the Nocturn to work. I programmed a new template for the Remote so it operates as a straight midi controller and doesn’t interact with Automap at all.

Let me know if you have any questions - And I hope someone can make good use of all this!

i have it.
COOL…:smiley::smiley:

Cool! By the way, there’s also a possibility to add “pages” to an Automap, that way you can use as many parameters as you like. I got the reply from the Novation support (that was quick) and will post my new mapping in the MIDI mapping forum in a couple of hours.

Here’s my current Novation 25SL MkII mapping:

I was able to name all the parameters through the Automap tool, once I got the info from Novation Tech support on how to create a “MIDI Client” there. Pretty easy, once you know how

Hey, mind including the syx template for the remote zero, as well as your 1.2 template?

Do you happen to know if this works without Automap? I haven’t been able to make paging work otherwise on the Zero, even though I followed the instructions of two templates with page 1/2, consecutively loaded, etc.

im having trouble maping the faders and all knobs. I can map the buttons though. This is my first time doing this so im kinda stuck.

All im doing is assigning it just like how i do with the buttons. Is there something more im support to do with faders/knobs? Thanks.

NVM, fixed it.

ok, i literally just pulled my new novation zero sl mkii out of the box and hopped on here, it’s nice to see that y’all are sharing your work, i’m pretty krafty with midi-mapping and will be developing a robust traktor mapping for this controller over the next while, i’m looking at adapting some of the trickery from the mf/vci mappings on techtools…

what features are you interested in seeing on this mapping?
for me the key things are:
the obvious deck controls
global effects controls
loop controls

i’m planning on holding off on the hotcue part until the sampler update for traktor touches down because i think that’s going to really change the game for me…

anyway, enough jibber jabber, i’m going to grab some paper and get crackin’

So did any one every upload a Remote 25 SL map? All these MKII maps are making me sad

yeah, so i finally got this knocked out…

heyo, here’s the mapping that you all need to get up on if you have a zero mkii and use traktor…

enjoy…

there’s more to come, btw…
