ok, CDX question again. hot deal?

ok, CDX question again. hot deal?

there is a local guy selling some numark CDX (black) with oddesy cases, and a mixer (case aswell) and a numark monitor. i know that the monitor and mixer are probably crap, but he wants $450 for the whole set.

i know ive asked before and all i got was that they were crap, but what i want to know is:

  • Are they bad overall, or just a few cases of that some of them are bad?
  • If you could score a pair of these for 300 with a case for both, would you take it?

i have a pair of Gemini XL-500 II turntables… and they are a piece of crap that feels like even more crap.

im thinking it wouldnt hurt to take a gamble on these. ive seen alot of success with them on youtube, but all ive heard here is bad reviews.

i need your opinions again, and if you’ve ever had experience with them, please share results.

I like mines… As long as the cd drives are ok I don’t see what other issue people have with them…

do you think it would be worth the 300 or so to get 2 with cases?

When it comes to a person spending their money I can’t say if it’s a good or bad investment because you are dealing with older gear with no sense of history behind it… Like I said before I like mines… One of the CD drives is going out but I like them enough to replace both (around 200.00) and that’s the biggest issue I’ve seen people have with them… Sorry I can’t be more help, I guess the question you have to ask yourself is 300-500.00 worth it???

well for me, its the choice between the turntables that wiggle like jello, and these. i kind of held the mantra that practice on high difficulty will make it a breeze to switch to other decks, but if i go with these, i don’t worry about needle skips. i’m also using Timecode, do it doesn’t really matter, since i manage cuepoints on my laptop.

do you know how often these cd readers go out? the internet made it seem like its every 2 days..

That’s how I’m using mines. I’ve only had them a few months but I think the wear comes from constantly putting cd’s in and removing them… The only thing I would suggest is play on them for a while… At least 30mins or so and they will tell on themselves if there’s an issue…

I haven’t personally owned a pair for more than a week (got a pair in a trade).

I wouldn’t, though. The pair that I had took me forever to resell and I only sold for like $250 after a few months. They hold no value because of the reputation their CD drives have.

Take that $300 and spend it on a pair of TT-500’s. Or save up some money and go with the HDX’s if you’re into the CD-vinyl emulation deal.

I do agree with sss18734 about the HDX’s. I would rather have these but unfortunately they’re RARE!!! You’ll have a better chance of finding Technics SL-DZ 1200’s before HDX’s.

Hey Dj Urkel how u like the cdx’s I love the v7s I replace the records on the v7’s and i wanted to send u ur records if u would want them back well on this topic the cdx’s are very nice and fun to play or use them I was at the perfect place & time and found a like new set of HDX’S with a numark 5000fx mixer for 400 bucks and I still talked him down to 300 for all lol

thats a pretty good price. i paid 300 a piece for mines so i’d take it, just make sure the cd drive works.

If i remember right the CD drive on a CDX is a standard slot load CD-ROM IDE affair, been a while since I had a peek at them, but they are bloody nice decks to play on and pretty sure would be awesome with DVS 300 bucks would be a steal.

BTW has anyone ever managed to get anything useful from the midi port - it was kind of an undocumented extra at release?

Dam bro… I like them a lot… One is a little iffy sometimes though… Good find on the HDX’s
