How often do you guys play older hits?
Every single time I turn my gear on.
i play them alot. if it´s a good song it is a good song and also people will often recognize it and sympathize. when i´m in the club and there is this super motivated dj playing the newest unreleased stuff he can get that no one knows i get a bit distracted after a while since i don´t have something to connect with (at least a bit since i love to dance no matter if i know the song or not).
I was wondering since I can save huge on getting a pack of 40 great hits from 2009 for less than $20
This is in trance music mind ya
Err, like all the time. Its the classics that make a good party.
If a song fits (the set/the mood/the energy level, etc..) - it fits. It doesn’t matter if it’s 2 weeks or 10 years old.
thanks for the input.
Had alot of the same thoughts was making sure I wasnt mistaken >.> like I sometimes am lol
good tunes are good tunes, even 15 years later ![]()
This…
A good set is a mix of new and old.
My favourite house song is 23 years old. thats older than I am. and everyone still loves it when i drop it at parties.
drop a classic now and then and people go nuts!
This.
Every time in one form or another.
I have zero concern with trying to play the latest and greatest dance stuff…but playing a bunch of tunes from 2009 or so in a modern trance set will absolutely turn the crowd off, stuff needs to be older to be a classics set (unless they are hidden gems, then by all means throw it down
I feel so damn old now
Motionchild - Paralize blew up a dancefloor in flames not too far back. I take that as a proof that old tunes still work.
one of the best tricks in the batbelt, drop a nostalgia bomb all over those bitch’s faces!
everyone loves a bit of time travel. just keep it tasteful, the only thing worse than not playing oldies is playing oldies at the wrong time, or blending them with some random dance tune that should never have been blended.
I like to make the connection between the past and present with an older track. Just picked up a copy of Wishing on a Star on mp3 for that purpose last week. By 1999 I never really wanted to hear it again, but the time is right.
