One problem is solved another one starts… is the ther no end?!?
After fucking around trying to get T Pro working with Snow Leopard i decided to throw the towel in and downgrade to Leopard 10.5.5 !
Traktor started SC worked entered serial number and worked like a charm and i was mixing away as happy as a pig in shit!
Then yesterday i turn on my MBP plug in the VCI 100 and Fast track pro and as soon as Traktor appeared on my screen my MBP crashed! I then tried again and found that as soon as i turned on the Fast track pro the screen greyed over and again was forced to restart my MBP!
Eventually after an hour or so battling it worked - just like that!
Then this morning i turn it on and there we go same problem again - so i reinstalled Fast track pro drivers and re installed Traktor (as i thought it might make a difference) and low and behold same again!
I am begining to think now i should just use my old g5 imac with Traktor 3 LE edition as it worked great with no problems!!
Is there something i am not doing? plus i have to select the mapping each time i use traktor as it doesnt remember it for some reason (using standard mapping btw)
Please please can anyone cure my headache - all i want do is mix and i cant do anything !! All the gear but cant use it !
Update to 10.5.8 Luke. Its free in Apple>Software Update>
I remember 10.5.5 being problematic.
Try Traktor without the Fast Track and eliminate the problematic part of the setup.
Im betting that 10.5.5 does not like the Fast Track drivers.
Check the Fast Track website for Firm Ware/Driver updates.
seuriously tho, im using snow leopard and traktor scratch pro (1.1) with out any major problems, the only difference is that im using a m-audio firewire 410 external soundcard, hope you get the problem sorted, if i come across any more info about your problem online or a work round ill let you know asap
Really??? I just cant warrant £1000+ on a macbook just for traktor. Dell latitude 2.4ghz dual core processor with 2gb of ram set me back £300. Is the £700+ extra getting me that much more stability ? not so sure seen as i havent had any issues really well apart from the midi out thing but easily solved. And We still see from this post Macs have problems. And we also saw the streamline your mac post not long ago. I think if i paid that amount on a laptop i would want it to skin up for me do the washin up ironin etc …
But im willing to bet tha Luke gets his Mac problem sorted a lot quicker and with less tinkering than all the dissappointed people that own Dell Inspikon Laptops.
(see what i did there, i meant Inspiron but i wrote Inspikon because of the DPC problems… i shuda been on stage)
No seriously who gives a crap. Use a frickin Texas Speak n Spell if it get the job done.
yes, if i could afford it. tbh i think they’re just generally better. Maybe if apple did what microsoft has and let 3rd parties put the software in their models they would be more affordable - but off topic
agreed.
back to topic; do macs have anything like restore points in windows? would goin back to before the snow leopard install sort things out?
I have never had a headache last as long as this one !!
Also i have no idea what firmware the vci is running - whats the best to get ? and how do u go about getting it ?
Is it worth buying the traktor bible ? i mean i am seriously not techy a complete beginner in digi djing - i know enough to get me by but fuck me i think u have to border line genius to get this shit working quickly!
As always any help is greatly appreciated and i would like to finally have a mix tonight even if it kills me!
BTW - fuck windows - at least with the mac u know where u stand - windows changes its mind like the wind!! LOL
Been running Snow Leopard and Traktor Pro nicely since it came out with the setup in my signature with no major problems. iTunes sound quality went to shit though, my only complaint about 10.6.
Try running the Traktor pro audio out of the built in soundcard without the Fast Track Pro installed. If it works, it’s your Fast Track Pro. That’s my hunch.
I too had a couple of snow leopard upgrade hick-ups. Then i created a new profile, transfered all of my documents, music, etc to the new user account, removed the libraries/applications/native instruments folder, reinstalled, pointed to the new locations of the music, etc. Everything works amazingly well. After installing the latest Audio8 drivers, and traktor 1.21 i am able to get my latency down to 2.5ms at 96Khz! 0 drop outs!
I never trusted upgrades with any operating system be it mac or windows; so creating a new administrator profile and transfering all files, documents, resetting permissions seems to work well over the years. Otherwise, i backup everything to an external, format/reinstall than use time machine to restore.
