I’m new here, but I think I will modify my mixtrack after seeing this thread. Thank you.
I was thinking the exact same thing. Very inspiring thread for sure. I think I’ll pick up a second controller purely for modding purposes.
why didnt i get the pro!!!
I considered the pro, but I like to be able to upgrade specific components, the sound card being one of them, so I went with the MIXVIBES U-MIX44.
I am wondering how ‘schmustom’ is it going to be?
you mean a mixvibes in addition to the mixtrack?
Yes, since the regular mixtrack has no sound card, I decided to buy my components separately, than as newer and more functional gear comes along, I can just upgrade the parts that need upgrading. I like those all in one boxes for gigs which gives me a great modding idea. I will see what I can come up with and post back. Modding is kinda more my thing right now, but I always wanted to get into mixing. I just bought a midi fighter and have plans to mod it too.
Here is a link to the last synth I modded.

very cool man. yeah i have a super top secret project in the making…and i cant wait to show it off
Curious as to what you’re working on.
rhymes with “schmustom scmidi schmighter”
Can I take a wild guess?
Removing the Platters and “integrating” the Midifighters in their place?
Any idea of when you can show it off?
has anyone really done usb mod?
… i mean for the mixtrack
@hindidjian
Looks easy enough, but I just don’t have the time (Studio, gigs, work). . .
You can find the parts on sparkfun or Mouser though.
yes tnx. i’m afraid to start the mod 'coz as i
look into the pics i noticed that there’s no
ready holes in pcb to mount the female type B usb.
Greetings forum!
I want to ask,if is it possible to put a light ring on the mixtrack’s jogwheel top as in (pioneer cdj-2000) or bottom (like cdj-350) which can flash for example when the track is going to the end or turning around with the track (like cdj-400)![]()
Thank you…
@hindidjian
Unecessary, as it’s not the PCB persay. There are wires going to the USB, and it’s wired directly to another part of the PCB for this.
There is a way to surface mount it with screws or very small bolts using the connection I found looking into the mod
All you would need to do cut the wires to length and solder the appropriate wires together
I was considering a Neutrik NAUSB-W-B A/B USB Feed-Through, but it didn’t look to be enough room for that mod, especially with the PCB as you’ve mentioned and seen.
Again, I would love to try this mod, but time within my own recording studio and gigs has put any type of project (I’ve put my own MF clone using Adruino Mega2560’s) to the back of the line. ![]()
@nikos13
I dunno if that’s possible, especially when the platter itself is touch sensitive. I think the wiring and LED’s might hinder that somehow. I’m not an electrical engineer, but it just looks like more trouble that it’s worth.
This is what I end up…
mixtrack with 3M di-noc
