Cinco de Mayo here is Liberation Day.
The day that we got liberated from the German oppression in 1945.
(Nowadays it’s just an excuse to have a big festival through out the Netherlands)

On liberation day we just dress regular and get pissed while attending bevrijdingspop.
You wear orange we wear green…so it shouldnt be a big deal.
Together we can be one big heap of Oompa- Loompaness.

not sure why we don’t celebrate like this on the other holidays with little relative meaning (excluding the netherland’s liberation day, that’s pretty important). like who actually celebrates the actual reason behind cinco de mayo (or how many people even know the history behind the day really)? so in that spirit why not get trashed on george washington’s bday!?
of course i guess that really only applies to the stateside folks.

you can always pick the dutch backpackers over here… they will 99% of the time always be wearing something orange: a tshirt, a hat, bandana on their wrist, etc…!
