not to mention i work at a YMCA part time and i almost got fired for drinking a gatorade (the kind my diabetic brother INHALES because its the only drink that wont mess with his blood sugar) in front of kids who come into school/the y after school with 2 lunchables, a 2 liter coke and a bunch of twinkies and havnt seen the light of day or fresh air in 2 yrs cause theyre addicted to their xboxes. because gatorade isnt promoting healthy eating habits. fucking nonsense IMO.

Just curious, what counts as “prerecorded music”?

Also, I thought there was a federal law already inplace for this? The rave act which was attached as a rider by that asshole Joe biden, in 2005 to the amber alert bill.

First off it is a huge human rights violation to prevent people from holding a “public event at night that includes prerecorded music and lasts more than three and one-half hours”
What constitutes a public event, the fact that this is not defined anywhere in the act means this can cover almost anything. A crime has to be specific public event is not.
As mentioned above what constitutes pre recorded music? This was not covered in the act and therefore could cover any number of things.
I also like how they said that night is between sun set and sun rise. This means that the hours this law would be in effect would vary from day to day as the days get longer and shorter.
I hope this does not get enacted…

If this act gets passed, events need to start at 2030 and end by 0200? To be within 3 1/2 limit. I dont see this passing. If it does, they will take it up to higher courts
or split the venue in half with 2 addresses, do two for one events. one running from a-b and the second next door from c-d.
all i see this doing is making people get 2 sets of permits and insurance anyway. its cheaper than paying the 10 grand. way cheaper. which makes it worth doing as a producer.

They tried something like this in Toronto back in the mid-late nighties. A couple of event “rave” organizers got together and through a free party on city halls front door step (literally). This was a full blown setup, there had to have been at least 4000 thousand people there. The event was classified as a demonstration so it was all legit, anyway we managed to break city halls stereotypes and the law to the best of my knowledge never passed.
You have got to make them see the positive in the scene because all people not involved ever see is the negative.
I’d kill for Toronto’s scene. Sadly, at least in L.A. people with the RIGHT plur style attitude are few and far between these days.

if this law gets passed. actually they can. its pretty much the equivallent of the uk’s criminal justice act more or less.
Wouldnt this also mean that bars that hold night events from 9pm-2am have to wait till 11 to play music???

This wll just push the scene underground, wehre there will be no EMTs, no Guaranteed water()BYOW), insurance wont be an issue becuase there wont be any. basically it wil push everyone out to the deserts and to the old warehouses in downtown.
i believe there is an exception in the law regarding clubs that are licensed.
would also require a permit from the city for every event. which already pretty much happens.. but the problem lies in the 3.5 hour, pre-recorded music bs
