Pads or Arcade Buttons?

Pads or Arcade Buttons?

What do you guys think? Now I know that the arcade buttons are amazing and all, but I think I still prefer pads. Not all of them. Specifically the KORG padKONTROL and the MPD series. To me, it feels like they are just as responsive and well I like the fact that on some of the controllers I can have a fixed velocity as well as velocity sensitive- What do you guys think?

Pads for me, the arcade button clicky sounds gets me on my nerves.

Pads fo sho!

depends..

you need velocity and maybe after touch: pads
you want to smash those cue points: arcade buttons

Both!! Grab a MIDI fighter and a trigger finger and you have no need to choose

can anyone recommend some decent pads for a diy build? =/ im searching up the forums too ;] but as were on topic…

get a padkontrol and idk… rip it apart. I love mine to death best pads in the world.

thank you =]

Pads, Pads, Pads.

argh! you cant just say Pads vs. Buttons…
it really depends on their task
(live drumming, cue point juggling, music prodution…)

I’m all for pads, any time..

pads most of the time - but looking forward to using my midifighter for sample decks and cue points. not as simple as either/or it depends on what u want to do with them i reckon…

pads for drumming, sample decks . arcade buttons for cue point juggling. Im glad I have both. I use both for different things.

same here. well will do as soon as my midifighter turns up :stuck_out_tongue: i don’t think the bag of arcade buttons, gamepad and soldering iron count as they’re not quite put together

launchpad is great for general controllery stuff tho - esp with the multi-color led feedbacks. lpd8 is pretty good for drumming - if only it had more pads :stuck_out_tongue:

THIS is my style..

Different strokes for different folks!
Some days I prefer pads, some days I prefer buttons.!

yup. now i have my midifighter+launchpad+lpd8 to compare… the arcade buttons are really nice but wouldn’t say they’re better than the launchpad, just different. for drum programming you can’t beat a touch sensitive pad that doesn’t have to be pushed in like the lpd8, so i’ll always prefer to use that for playing live beats as well as sequencing. i’d probably like the midi fighter more if it had variable color buttons and more of them… it’s probably the best for fast cue point stuff tho - not that i need that.

Download the mapping and files on this and play around. 4 Song Cue Point Juggle - DJ TechTools I probably lost 30 hours of vacation playing around with it…

I just realised, shouldn’t keys be an option up there as well? :stuck_out_tongue:

I generally prefer pads as they have a tremendous amount of flexibility and I like the feel of quality pads. I don’t really know how others feel about the Maschine pads, but they’ve been great to me!
