Hello
sorry I’m not sure about your question, do you ask about Jaja ddj-sx’s mapping itself or how you map that generally speaking?
If that’s the latest you need:
2 buttons available and then you map the following
->1st button (your page selector’s ‘decrease’)
- sample page selector decrease command
- modifier X x 4 times each with the respective modifier (when MX=0, direct 0; when MX=1, direct 0; when MX=2 direct 1, when MX=3 direct 2)
->2nd button (your page selector’s ‘increase’)
- sample page selector increase command
- modifier X x 4 times each with the respective modifier (when MX=0, direct 1; when MX=1, direct 2; when MX=2 direct 3, when MX=3 direct 3)
Please note that’s one way out of the blue to do that, another would have to have 4 buttons that directly change the modifier value to the respective modifier’s value condition (1st button direct to 0 x 4 times for each modifier value (condition), 2nd button to 1 x 4 times… etc, etc…)
I recommend heavily to map leds out for that modifier/page selector.
All the commands you have to trigger the specific cell(s) will have to have that modifier’s condition integrated.
I don’t know the DDJ-SX mapping you’re talking about but my guess is that you probably have a button to engage the 8 cells ‘control mode’ on the 8 pads. An alternative would be to have the 4 upper pads to change the remix cells LINE you control when that ‘mode’ is engaged, so you create a modifier that will have 4 values (0 to 3) and depending on the modifier’s value, the other 4 pads would control the LINE of cells (still on the 1st page). Depending on the modifier’s value the direct commands to control the different cells would change.
For example, if your modifier is 0 then you map to the 4 pads: slot 1 cell1, slot 2 cell1, slot 3 cell1, slot4 cell1; if your modifier is 1 then you map the following commands: slot 1 cell2, slot2 cell2, slot3 cell2, slot4cell2, etc, etc…
I think that’s a strong possibility for you, that would imply to verify what are the commands you need to modify inside the mapping to check for the good modifier(s) to include/change. If that’s feasible of course.
You may find that those buttons already use the available modifiers spots, that would mean, you’ll have to include modifiers inside modifiers..but that’s another story I won’t develop here, not very difficult that’s doable, but I can’t really help without the unit and/or mapping. You can at least suggest that to Jaja.
Considering the remix deck/sample play aspect it just obliges you to think in line (vertically) for the samples instead of slots (horizontally).
Hope this helps ^^
