Paypal payments?

Hello fellow djs

Just a quick question, i know a lot of you guys accept a certain percrntage of payments before hand. Do you guys ever accept the prepayments in the form of paypal?

I’m not getting paid to DJ… but why would you want to get paid via PayPal? They take 3% of your money.

yeah I’ve taken payments as paypal for deposits plenty of times. Just make the promoter pay the fees too.

One thing I can’t stand is booking headliners and how they almost always require their deposits sent via wire. That shit is expensive.

3% is only for business accounts.

Personal payments between users is still free.

Thats not right. Even if I send like 5€ to a friend he only gets like 4,xx.

If you send it as a payment for an item or service, there is a 3% charge.

If it is a gift to a friend (you have to select that option) then it is free (I think).

i take it all up front
i dont even do promotions for the night unless is already been paid for

this way
A) they cant change the schedule on me
B) they cant ask me NOT to come (since they paid for me to be there already)
C) if my people show up and they want to say “We are only paying for your people that showed” that isnt going to happen either.
Because if they and the venue dont already have its own people show up, thats not my fault, and actually, that would be a really bad sign of their own business

PayPal is actually pretty good for business accounts - I use it for payments and have had no problems at all.

And 3% is very reasonable considering there is no monthly charge.
The 3% drops as well - as your income rises.

this is true. however, the funds need to be linked from a checking account and not a debit/credit card.

There is a very small fee when sending as a gift. It’s significantly less than the 3%.

The reason I don’t like Paypal is that they will 97% side with the buyer. If your client is shady and tells Paypal that they didn’t receive the service they paid for, Paypal can/will freeze your account. You have to go through weeks of BS to realize that money probably isn’t coming back.

your right & everyone else doesnt see that.. as many people as their are in the world & alot of them use Paypal.. these are the same people who send their food back after eating half of it & want the manager to give it to them for free.. I totally feel ya

even the EDIT you made to it
i have been using paypal since 1998 and have probably had to complain about both sides as a buyer and a seller.
and this , has never happened even 60% of the time
