Phono/ line for DVS?

When I set the TT’s , mixer and interface to phono I get serious sound distortion so I have to set a combination of phono and line and it sounds good. The TT has an option and so does the mixer and interface but is it ok to mix it and have a combination of both? My set up is :

Audiotechnicas 1240
Behringer ddm 4000
Denon Ds1 interface
Serato dj
Win7

Your TT should connect to the DS1 at PHONO level, then the DS1 should connect to the mixer at LINE level.

So TT set to phono
Ds1 switch to phono
Then mixer set to line input and switch to
Line also?

My concern is causing damage to something , I hear that line carries more voltage someone told me so I don’t wanna fry something
