Problem with Midi Controller

Hey, I know this isn’t a technical support forum, but I have tried everything I can think of and this is the most knowledgeable community I know of.

I recently upgraded to XP x64, and after initially working for one run, Traktor 3 no longer accepts signals from my midi controller. The only thing I can think of that I did between it working and now not working was installing Traktor pro, which I have now uninstalled. I know that:

  • The Midi Controller works, Ive used it in other programs

  • Traktor “see’s” my midi controller, its using its inbuilt soundcard and its selectable in the MIDI IN and MIDI OUT section and the green MIDI light is aluminated.

  • The TKS file I’m using works

The midi controller in question is a Numark Omni Control. Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

For a start, traktor pro uses tsi files, not tks. Are you sure you have a new mapping file for pro ?

Traktor 3 takes tks.

I decided to reformatt to XP 32 and everything is working now, rather frustrating though.

Glad it sorted it, but I’m pretty sure the OS isnt the issue.

Hey Sam,

If you want to take advantage of a 64-bit system and your CPU supports it, try the 64-Bit edition of Windows 7. Theres an RC version that you can try for free so search around. I had XP 64 installed when I bought my first (and only :disappointed: ) 64-bit enabled CPU (P4 D 640 3.2GHz) and really didnt saw any much of an improvement, besides booting and shutting down times, since almost all apps were 32bit and it felt like it waslike an experiment more than anything.

That was 2005.

Fast foward 2009… and still have the same PC :disappointed: (P4 D 640 3.2GHz, 2 GB ram, AGP! GeForce7800GT and like 400GB HDD) but installed the Win7 64 Ultimate just to try it and feels like a brand new PC:eek:. The version I have is the RC which I installed for free with a serial Microsoft provides in their website and can be used up until I think March or something with full update support. I dunno about Vista on my machine since I went from XP to 7.

I use Traktor Scratch Pro and Traktor 3 (the last version that was released) and both work no problems with a VCI-100 that was recognize upon connecting it with no noticeable latency. I dunno if those apps are 64bit but they run and for the 3-4 hour daily sessions I go it hasnt crashed on me yet.
