If I get asked to play in Russia I’ll have to say no. I can’t play anywhere where freedom of speach is not honnored. The conviction of Pussy Riot is only because of a dictator intolerance of people speaking agains him. Putin the days of USSR are over you have a democracy now in Russia and you as a leader should be the first to live by that.
Didn’t see any post about Pussy Riot and I’m so agains the way it’s been handled. Their not DJ’s but if that can happen to 3 girls playing punk then it could happen to anyone protesting agains Putin.

Its a shame cus most young Russians are really on the ball, I talk to quite a few Russian producers on soundcloud and I would love to play there, but I won’t be geting my bollox out in Church so I do not expect to get beat down by an oldskool commi bastard.

cmon, these girls achieved thier aim… they are russian, they knew better then any of us outside of russia full well the ramifications of thier actions. We are talking about it, therefore they achieved what they set out to do. Every country is different, I just spent 5 weeks in prison in the country I adopted, if it had of been in my own country then I would never have been locked up and held so long, but hey, i knew where I was and I didnt winge as I respected that that is how things work at that place, at that time.
Im working now with two russians and they explained to me that the orthadox church is a pretty tough place, he explained that when you go for a service which can take 5 hours you stand for the duration, the point is that its already a not so “relaxed” institution. For these girls to get thier tits out, well you see my point. Those girls will get out and will have more attention as a band then they likely ever would have had they not gone to prison (im not sure as to wether they were already popular) again I say, I think there was a certain level of caculation in thier actions. no?
They ain’t going to gulag thats for sure.

Anyways, as I am living next to Russia, things like these make me unbeliveably
sad, because as long as I remember I have wished that Russia would become
a nice democratic and peaceful country.
Thing like Pussy Riot and war in Georgia doesn’t make me feel
too safe about my little country which was a piece of Russia for 52 years against our own will.
But still, happy indipendence day to our little piece of land on earth, Estonia.

Its just an example of how the Russian government keps control of the people. Always going over the top. Remember the Moscow theater? 50 Chechens took over a theater with 800+ people in it in 2002. When the Russian military was done, almost all of the Chechens were dead and 120+ of the hostages because they pumped the place with a nerve agent and raided it. \

Russian people are also brainwashed pretty good starting from 1917 and ending around the beginning of the nineties.
There is even a certain group of population who don’t even want freedom of speech and are still
in favour of communism and bringing back the USSR.
