Qns regarding Traktor HID mode with Pioneer CDJs

So i recently only just learnt of this mode after purchasing my traktor s4 upgrade kit. Is traktor scratch pro needed for HID mode? or will normal traktor pro work fine for HID mode with pioneer CDJs?

I bought traktor scratch upgrade for the timecode cds, and now to find out theres another way a day after purchase that dosent require tsp 2/ timecode cds would be a real bummer.

How does HID mode work??

well by googling what is HID mode you get this answer…

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/DJ/CD-DVD-Media-Players/What+is+HID+mode

so looks like you dont need it…

Ahh… Ok thx.

For pioneers cdj line, is there a list of wat cdjs are hid compatible? I tried googlin but i got nth.

Can i assume its only the newest models? Cdj 850, 900, 2000 nexus? How bout the 1000/ 2000 models?

Real bummer having bought the tsp2 upgrade kit for timecode cds…

2000’s , 900, and one of the lower models (I think the 400) . No 850 yet, and the 1000 doesnt even have a USB port

Yep, I can confirm that you can use HID with regular traktor on 2000s and 900s, you just need 2 usb cables.

HID is just like using the CDJ as a midi controller, but HID is much higher resolution and can feed quite a lot of data both ways between the laptop and the CDJ. Traktor is HID compatible with the CDJ 400, 900, 2000 and 2000NXS and you don’t need a scratch licence. Serato scratch live is HID compatible with the SEP-C1, MEP-7000, CDJ 350, 400, 850, 900 and 2000 (not the 2000 Nexus, yet)

Thanks guys! So would i be right saying that timecode cds for dvs control for cdjs will eventually b phased out in favour of hid mode?

Absolutely. Timecode CDs are nowhere near as good. TC vinyl is another matter.
