Recording 4 Decks with DJM900 & TSP2?

Recording 4 Decks with DJM900 & TSP2?

Hi All,

I would like to record my mix from Traktor - using all 4 decks. Is this possible with the djm 900? From what i’ve seen and tried it seems you have to designate a channel on the mixer as the ‘mix out’ channel - thus leaving you with only 3 channels/decks to mix with???

I can’t for the life of me work out how this is done.

Any help and ideas would really be appreciated.

Thanks

Tom

No Booth Out?

Connect the record or booth out to channel C or D input on your Audio8 (or whatever box). The ins/outs work independently so you can still use four channels out and record on one of the ins.

This.

you don’t need a channel on the mixer. Just any out (booth, rec, master)from the mixer and any available IN (C & D are recommended) on the card.

I just use those as A/B have multicores attached.

i’ve got it sorted now, thanks guys - i just had to assign deck a in the traktor prefs/record settings as the master record channel - then in the djm900 settings utility change deck a to REC OUT - now i got all 4 decks recording!

Trying to accomplish the same thing. Do you need an audio interface with inputs, or can I use the Audio2 with only outputs and get the same result?

You need inputs to use an external card.

Is there a way around this without having to buy the A6? Heard of routing from Booth or Record out into the PC, then using Audacity, but haven’t had any luck with that

Basically want to record externally but with the A2 if possible…
Thanks!

Did you set the input in Audacity to line in?

Yes. Sounded extremely distorted, messed about with the gain and such, but no go.

This is using a PC FWIW. I don’t know if my MIC is the same as a Mac’s line in, but that is the only option I have.

The line in on most laptops (windows laptops at least) usually sounds like arse - various amounts of hiss and even blitter noise if you’re unlucky.
If it sounds WAY distorted though, check in windows’s recording devices setup - make sure you don’t have the microphone boost enabled and/or post processing/enhancements running. That usually helps.

Thinking I should just dish out for the Audio6 and get some inputs…

Worth the money just to be able to record?

Just trade up to a DB4

I wish!:disappointed:

Any cheaper method than buying the A6 or is that going to let me do what want?

If you don’t absolutely need to record in Traktor you can get a handheld digital recorder like this [ame=“Amazon.com”]Amazon.com: Tascam DR-03 Portable Handheld Recorder: Musical Instruments@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41dU9dbu5OL.@@AMEPARAM@@41dU9dbu5OL[/ame]

It’s got a line in so you can just run into it and record.

Unfortunately I do need to record in Traktor. Using my and MF for some special stuff on decks C and D.

Good idea though for using without software!

$300 or so odd dollars just seems like a lot for the A6, justifiable?

I have the DB4, but i used the record out and a zoom H1 recorder which cost me around $130. Im happy with the sound i got… I think its better than when i had recorded directly from tpro.

I think being able to record is my main concern right now. I was so into getting new gear and such, but then after trying for so long to record externally, realized I couldn’t.

What good is mixing and then not allowing anyone to hear, you know?
