Have you checked the input is specified in audio preferences for line input ? If audiacity wont work I’m guessing its your config ?

Use audio port for: Sound Input should be selected from the input section.

I’ve always used Audacity, sounds like you don’t have a setting correct or the cable plugged in to the input on the computer.

Yeah Audacity works just fine for me.

You have to select line in from the preferences menu. Audacity for some reason always defaults to the mic in.

I like SoundStudio myself but it was overpriced :disappointed:

Yeah you should be able to make Audacity work.

This is definitely a setup issue, and Audacity is one of the best simple free software that won’t tax your system. How do you have it plugged into the computer? Are you plugging it straight into the 1/8" jack? Or using an interface of some sort? What model mac are you running with what version of OSX?

I think it’s probably something really simple that’s going on here. Make sure to check your preferences in Audacity for the proper input setting first off. Let us know! We’ll figure this out.

yeah i do it through that band thing, i cant remember the name of it, the mix i have posted on here was done through that software, which is on your mac

garage band thats it!!!

I use reaper…

now i have a macbook white(2007) i plugged an rca to the 1/8 jack directly from the the mixr to the computer!

my configuration is preferences>devices>recording>BUILT IN INPUT

i am connecting the 1/8 jack to the computer is the one on left from this link

You want “line in” on your macbook

What are the preferences in Audacity set up as?

I don’t use audacity but they want to be “line in” too

got it…i had to change it to line in on the computer preferences!! but now i have another problem, how do i change the recording format? LOL i really appreciate what you are doing, sorry for being anoying!

glad you’re getting there

what do you want the recording preferences to be?

record in WAV in Audacity then drag that file into itunes and use that to convert to mp3

in itunes/preferences/general you can choose the quality. go for custom 320kbps

audacity is only recording on its own format, i need to record on WAV or MP3 but i have no idea how to do it!

You record it in it’s own format, then export as WAV or MP3, well thats what I do anyway

that’s what i can’t do, i have no idea how to do that!! could you explain me how to do it please?

In Windows, its File>Export as WAV. If you use the LAME plugin (for converting to MP3 - Windows again) its File>Export as MP3.

Seriously!? Did you even look at any of the options under “File”?
