its been months by now that Im facing a very nasty issue with my Hercules Air+/X1/F1(w/ Insta Gratification)/A2 combo.
So here it goes. Once in a while I hit Cue 1 from Deck A, and it activates a random Cue from Deck B instead. This always turns my good mixes into the worst breakdowns, you can imagine. And im pretty sure the problem is connected to Air+/X1 chemistry.
I give up on reinstalling things. Is there any possibility you people know how to solve this?
When I contacted NI, they made a generic list of things to check. Drivers, Reinstall Traktor once more, Delete Insta Grat from my F1.. how Im supposed to delete ANY mapping, I BOUGHT their hardware JUST BECAUSE I CAN APPLY MAPPINGS.
A well known DJ is coming over right after 2015, and if this happens to my Cues, my mix will be ruined. Please, and when I say please, I mean PLEASE give me some lore here..
I don’t just do trigger then with the Hercules, I can safely say whenever that happens Im pretty much 99.9% percent Im AT Hercules at the time as far I remember. Most of the times, triggering them happy.. meaning like a maniac.
HERE’S THE .TSI WITH THE CUEBOLA !
I always get the feel like it happens when Load/Out Markers are being spreadly mapped in the set. But listen, because thats already illogical to happen. It never happened near a load marker, most of the times I remember being not in a track WITH a Load/Out marker when that happened, not EVEN Load/Out markers activated by Traktors preferences.
I just always get the feeling because right after a lot of work in a set, and Load/Out markers stored around for indicators, these DRANK-CUE-SWAPS start to happen. But probably erase that, I just wanted to take it out from me.
Hmm.. I thought for sure there was going to be an issue somewhere with your hotcue mapping. It all looks legit though. It seems that perhaps it’s a hardware issue, with the controller itself.
Is there any way you can manually configure MIDI messages sent by the Air+ (something similar to NI’s Controller Editor)?
This actually seems like a plausible culprit, I would absolutely do this!
I was curious to see if it would change anything to map your Deck B commands to MIDI channel 2 but, looks like you’re unable to do that anyhow.
Definitely do as c0nsul suggested, I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if this totally solves your issues. As he mentioned though, be sure to backup your tsi’s, as well as make note of any important settings that you may forget (ie. File Management Directories, Transport Settings, etc.
Okay guys, Im really thankful for your replies to start with.
I have Settings.tsi & Collection.nml (prolly not connected) backed up, and I did a full export of my Traktor preferences. I guess my things are safe.
If I do what consul says, Im gonna run a Traktor with no Settings, no Mappings, not even playable decks.. at all, am I right? I just want to know that I understand what Im going to do. Then I have to go find the mappings again and reinstall them. Then I import the settings I had? Or I have to re-set them myself?
Im not bad in music, and Im believing that Im SO good with software in general. However these mappings, these backups, these ports/targets/focuses/whatevers really feel like a pain in the ass to me. I totally want to know how I change ONE button from my deck (from something else to bpm TAP button f.e), all the options for this are there.. and I cannot even throw an eye at them. I dont know why Im afraid of something that people who have no idea of software simply manage.
Write me down a few steps please. Just to make sure I wont cause any more damage at the settings or lose anything. I already had 3 other heavy problems in the past, I still do have some noise because I cannot ground the RCAs, it never seems to be perfect for once.. issues never seem to end.
(Edit: Do not care about what I’ve mentioned in italic. I found the Mapping Guide consul posted. That cleared up many things for me pretty easily, and now I guess Im able to make the “TAP” thingie I always wanted lol.)
Don´t worry.
It´s not a big deal, just export (back up) all your settings into a single tsi-file (make sure you check all of the options) with the big export button (on the bottom of preferences window in traktor).
As far as I remember, this never broke my midi mappings. It´s just for safety to back up everything.
You don´t have to delete your collection or the midi mappings. Delete only that “Traktor Settings.tsi”! This file contains your settings, not your mappings.
When you start Traktor without that Settings-file, the software creates a new/fresh one! It´s like a clean install.
After this, import your tsi-file with that big import button (down on the left side in your preferences). And to be safe, import that file TWICE! This will load all your settings (and mappings). Then close Traktor, by this the settings will be written into the new “Traktor Settings.tsi” file.
After this procedure, tell us whether your cues are still drunk or not.
Your grounding issues: Are all electricity charger plugged into the same power outlet?
Offtopic: I have 3 whole multiplugs (I dont know how they are called) on the same power outlet!
However my gear are USB Powered.. and I put them in a USB Hub which of course has external power. I can buy a long power chord, and put extend to another power outlet.. But what should I put there? The USB Hub which has all my Decks connected?
Grounding noises occur often, when parts of the sound equipment use different power sources. Best way to prevent this is using only one power source for all musical devices.
If some lights are connected to the same power source, noises occur as well!
Use different electric sources for light and music.
I did, delete the file, I did run the Traktor clean (Wizard popped up), I did re-install TWICE the tsi I exported earlier, I restarted.
All seem normal so far. I will fullmix tomorrow for an hour, and I will see if this happens.
Offtopic: Im gonna buy a multimeter power chord, and have it plugged on another wallplug, then just plug my USB Hub device on it, where all my gear are connected to along with a printer, gaming controllers etc.
That will be good, right?
