So I recently came up on an S4 on craigslist with a flight case and TP2 for 630$ and I’ve been trying to set it up but I can’t get it to work right. I’m using my original TP2 that I had before I bought this because he didn’t unregister his copy yet.
What I can’t get to work is the cue button. My headphones only play the master output, but is effected by the cue mix and cue vol pots. In my output routing I have the output master set to 1: Output L and 2: Output R. In output monitor I have it set to 3: Monitor L and 4: Monitor R. What am I doing wrong? I’ve restarted my Mac, reinstalled the default .tsi, pretty much whatever I can think of besides reinstalling Traktor. Is that what it comes down to? Also, in case anyone asks, I have the Audio device set to Kontrol S4.
Dont have output monitor set to anything mine is blank there and in output recording. On my output master i have L 1 and R 2. Just take out the output monitor. Make sure your cue volumes are up and dont have the cue mix vol on. Also, maybe if you want just in case restore your factory defaults.
Fallow the add steps (small add button) in the controller manager in preferences. You can also use the setup wizard and select the S4 as your controller, but you’ll lose any preferences changes you’ve made.
Oh reset the mapping? I’ve been using the default S4 mapping the whole time. I reinstalled Traktor too. Originally I was using a pirated copy until I got this S4 and I finally got around to installing the correct copy. I haven’t registered it or anything but that shouldn’t be an issue because everything else works. The cue button lights up on my S4 when you press it, and you can see that the cue button on Traktor changes as well, so something is happening, but no sound is coming out of my monitors besides the master output.
Are you actually pressing the cue button on the S4 (lights up orange) on the S4? Just wondering…don’t be offended.
If you have the cue mix knob on the S4 knob turned all the way to the left and you press the Cue button on the S4 you should hear sound from the deck that you have pressed the Cue button on thru your headphones. The Cue button on the S4 should turn orange on that deck, and in the software the headphone icon next to that deck should light up.
Edit just read your last post skip to this part
If this happens and you still need can’t hear the deck you are trying to cue then there is a software headphone volume for the Cue. You need to check this. It will be in the same section as the crossfader and all the way to the right with a headphone icon and a virtual knob. If you don’t have the Crossfader normally displayed then go to preferences/mixer/mixer layout, and then click on the box next to Crossfader. You should see it now.
***Edit 2 …Cracked versions of software isnit tolerated in this forum. I was tempted to just tell you Cueing doesnt work with cracked version of Traktor
Alright. I’m in the crossfader section, but there are only 3 software knobs shown, the ones that are mapped to the 3 knobs on the front of the S4. Which knob are you talking about?
It actually changes the volume of the monitor output only, but yea I wasnt really thinking. If you were getting sound from the cue mix then that meant that the knob wasn’t all the way down like I was thinking it might be. It has to be a mapping issue like people stated before. Make sure in your controller mappings all you have is one s4 mapping and it should say default. After that I would do a clean install of Traktor. I know you already did, but this time make sure you delete anything in all the Traktor folders by hand. When you just simply re-install Traktor it uses your old preferences and settings you have saved from before. So maybe it’s that. I honestly never heard of this. I am almost certain it’s not the hardware though, in case you were worried about that.
