Hi Scamo,
i had issues on my home laptop which was a 4gb windows 7 acert machine so i read up on the forums and went for a £100 flea bay laptop running windows XP i upgraded from 2gig to 4 gig on an HP 6400.I dont use it for anything else aprt from occasional browsing but my internet is always off when i play ( a friend of mine was playing out when unbeknown to him he got a wi fi connection then for 15 minutes the computer shut down whilst it upgraded windows off the wi fi !! not good ). i used this link http://forums.projectcovo.com/showthread.php?t=759753 and everythin runs fine and dandy widows 7 and vista have way too much going on in the background so xp is the answer.
Hope this helps.
Hi guys, week ago, ive changed my denon mc6000 to s2 , and from this point i cannot run TP2 like before((( ive used 2.0.3 with 2 decks and 2 sample decks with 4 chained effects and with no issues , also with latency 6 ms. But when ive connect the S2, i used to install 2.1.2 and as began a problem(( first of all small triangle on s2 begin to flash, cpu load in traktor jump to red zone, and sound like a crap(((
I tried to change latency, turn multicore on off, used djtt optimizer, turn everything that no need off, and also did fresh instal of win7 64, with no other programs, and still have same problem, and what especialy driveme a crazy, that also when i go back to 2.0.3 and connect denon back, the issues didnt dissapeared…
But when i tryed s2 with 2.1.2 on another laptop or my desktop it worked fine.
So what can be a problem???
My specs: lg r710 c2d 6400, 4 gb ram, 2 hdd, ati 3660
flashing triangle is probably due to not having the mains power plugged in.
could be graphics drivers - turn off anything related to “enhanced” “optimising” etc in graphics options.
HDD monitoring software and battery management software can hinder performance too, some people run even without a battery!
i managed to get my i3 4GB ram laptop working fine can even browse the net via wifi while mixing. i just followed the tips on the NI website
i have main power connected, i disabled everything that possible in services. still issues((
When I first got my S2 and Traktor going I was getting intermittent drop outs. I simply switch my usb cord to another port on my laptop and everything was fine. Switched from USB 3.0 to USB 2.0
i tried every port in my comp, still have problems, now i rise the latency to 10 ms, in task manager i see that traktor take 26% of cpu, but in traktor load meter jump everytime up/down. but only when i choose soundcard of s2, DPC latency checker show latency 200-300 max, but levelmeter in traktor till jump like crazy(((
You should read this and check the latency settings. I stopped having latency issues at 512.
Also, I’ve had great results with this script by SmiTTTen…to improve tratkor’s performance and latency issues.
I was having issues with my dell then once I disabled everything that has been said before like firewall, realtek soundcard an all the graphic cards it runs fine ![]()
Its my everyday computer aswell so all music, work, Porn, you get the idea ![]()
You have to respect a man who not only admits to but CAPITALIZES the word Porn.
I bow to you Sir.
512 is not to high? Its giving like 15 ms delay, maybd in home use its ok, but when i connect it to club mixer its to much
Yeah, Ean says a latency of 10ms is about max for a professional performance situation.

I think it depends on what you’re doing, controllerist routines, than I gotta agree, if it’s traditional DJing, I think 15 is quite acceptable as wel.
So the article from DJ Endo says:
“The recommended setting for using Traktor on most MacBook Pro is 44100 Hz Sample rate and 512 MS Latency. This is because this is the standard sample rate used by most CDs. If you’re a turntablist, you might want to use a lower latency setting. It’s worth noting that a lower latency will give you a quicker response, but it will also stress your computer more, and possibly cause audio dropouts. Keep an eye on your CPU meters when your using Traktor. If the CPU meter is going in the reds you might need to raise your latency.”
So acutally the latency it’s about 13.1ms which is not that bad. I use this settings on a not-so-great windows 7 pc and I have managed to have good results. Given that I have to play 5-6 hrs sets at a club weekly, makes the S2 very stable throughout the night. I had the latency lower and had a few issues after my 3rd hour.
This is what is working for me right now, I hope it works for somebody else, or someone else have more tips that can share.
i wouldnt go by the latency quoted in traktor there. the latency will be changing constantly depending what the laptop is doing. use a program like dpc latency checker (http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml) anything above 1ms is bad. mine never goes above 600us (0.6ms) when switching between traktor and firefox with 2 decks playing…
strange, but with same settings i have 16 ms((
why??
I think we are just getting off topic here. The question was do you still have crackles and pops with the S2? if you don’t then it’s most likely resolved. If you have latency issues with your system, that perhaps is not related with the S2, but instead with your system. And there are may threads and articles that talk about optimizing windows for Traktor.
Anyway, I was playing around with the latency settings last night and manage to get it on 9.3 without having crackles and pops or any drop outs.

seriously guys, try this dpc latency checker program. an actual latency of even 1ms is bad…
