S4 - Traktor Pro 2 - Alinement edit of Scamo’s Extreme Jog Wheels with DJTTs S4 Map

Hi Guys,

Before you start, please go back to this forum thread to find out more about Scamo’s Extreme Jog Wheels Mapping for the S4 which is basically what I have built upon.

NOTE - If my mapping isnt working for you, you need to go into the thread mentoned above, download Scamo’s 4.3, Use the big import button twice, then delete his and use the small import button for mine as mine was built around his settings.

Ive been playing around with Eans S4 mapping and liked a few of the features, but not having control over samples was the big turn off for me, so I took to Scamo’s mapping and liked what I saw too, especially how open it is to add things (while not taking away a thing). I used to use Yul’s mapping before the new Traktor Pro 2 updates ruined it all so ive been looking for something good to replace it.

So what I have done is taken Scamo’s mapping, and added the best of Eans S4 Mapping.

For modes 1-4 (Ean’s Beatmasher, Army of Me Sweep build & Freeze, Scamo’s Gatorator, Scamo’s Riffer) please refer back to his thread, download his original 4.3 zip which includes a tutorial on how to best map to your own liking.

These are my additions

Mode 5 - I have added the Flangerflux/FilterPulse/Reverb from Ean’s map (Chained FX mode 3). but I have replaced the reverb in the chained effects with a delay T3 that is activated only by FX Button 3 (as its best added in after the original effect takes shape). The Reverb from the original has been placed into the Advanced effect slot in Unit 3 (or 4) and is controlled by the Jog Wheel (along with the Flangerflux and Filterpulse)

Mode 6 - I have added the Beatmasher/LoFi/Filter92LFO (also from DJTT S4 mapping chained FX mode 1)

Mode 7 - I have made this control just to control the Advanced effect slot in Unit 3 (or 4) for the BeatSlicer as to the exact specifications of Eans Mapping in DJTT Advanced FX Mode 1.

I looked through the DJTT mapping to make sure I got the settings exactly right in terms of values of speed of the encoder and such. So far it sounds pretty good.

I have edited Scamo’s original mapping only very slightly just to tidy up a few things such as making the Advanced effects unit on applicable to Deck A or B. I found a few glitches with the original in terms of the Advanced Delay and Advanced T3Delay and have tidied them up (however they might have been glitches due to my import). Also changed the speed of the Turntable FX to fit into one bar (for house tracks).

Scamo mentioned he was going to remove the filter in Mode 4. I actually like how he has controlled the main filters in your EQs, it takes a bit of practice, but its nice to have a little more control with the Jogs for this.

I use an X1 where I have 4 decks and full FX on the main face and have programmed the midi mode for the bottom 16 buttons to work as Instant Gratification and I have programmed the top 8 knobs and 8 buttons to work like Army Of Me has her S2 Midi mode at (check her Youtube Channel). Point being, if I EXPORT my settings when I have finished programming using the big button and import it back in when I need, it seems to work just fine in conjunction. I have only finished this today, so it may have more bugs I dont know about.

Thanks for all your hard work Scamo (and by proxy Army Of Me), I know a little about mapping, but only if someone like yourself has done all the tough stuff.

Cheers
Alinement

Nice work Alinement.

I’ll have to take a look at it tomorrow. (sorry, no time today) I’ll also take a look at the glitches you mentioned. I know my mapping isn’t perfect, but it surely is getting there with great feedback like this and from the other users who have given me tips and positive critique. And that you’ve built upon my mapping is exactly what I had hoped for. I hope more people try to add their customer effect groupings too. This is great stuff.

scamo

Hi,

i hope this is not a stupid question, but will this mapping works with a s2 too?

There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers.

And my answer won’t be stupid, but more than likely disappointing. No. This mapping won’t work for the S2. It only works for the S4. Sorry.

scamo

I noticed the X1 mapping is not included, do you mind sharing that one as well?

i selected the TSI file but not attached.

Not sure what you mean. Could you explain better?

scamo

Alinement I checked your TSi but you made some modifications which have an effect on the way Scamo’s effects are working. E.g. mode1 if I use your TSI the original track is bleeding through the beatmasher as if the dry wet is not working properly. For some reason I am not geting the same result with your mapping of the S4 DJTT mapping then with the original. I’ll have a closer look later on.

Alignments file. I click and download it but when I view it in downloads, there is no TSI file. When I download yours scamo, there is one.

It’s there just right click and save as. It’s not zipped.

Thanks for checking it out Defmd, im not sure what exactly is happening. When I originally got Scamo’s mapping I felt that the bugs I experienced werent because of a faulty mapping from Scamo, but more likely to do with whatever problems happen in the translation from one computer to another, i have tried many different TSI.s over the years and often ill have to go through and change things to make sure they work properly like it was described, so maybe its a case of that..

Ummm did you try installing scamo’s 4.3 with the big import and then deleting it and importing mine with the small import?

Scamo have you tried it yet?

Oh and about the X1, I have done so much to it, im sure there must be some complications along the way, such as when I tried to get the Instant Gratification (from another thread) i had to go into controller editor and lower every note by one, and then change the order of the Effects as they are listed til it worked, in fact that might be a problem for a lot of TSIs really. hmm anyway, Ill look at it over the weekend and maybe release it as a new thread, firstly I want to make sure I can get this one working.

I have the instant gratification working on the X1 in midi mode, I was more interested on the top half with the other sweeps

I added the sweeps and stuff to the existing IG map, so ill look to get that out after the weekend, but did you see the post above that? Just wanted to clarify the S4 problems first.

Hey Alinement. I think I know what is happening. Have you changed the order of your effects? Look under Effects in the preferences window.

I have:

Delay
Reverb
Flanger
Flanger Pulse
Flanger Flux
Gator
Beatmasher 2
Delay T3
Filter LFO
Filter Pulse
Filter
Filter: 92 LFO
Filter: 92 Pulse
Filter: 92
Phaser
Paser Pulse
Phaser Flux
Reverse Grain
Turntable FX
Iceverb
Reverb T3
Ringmodulator
Digital LoFi
Mulholland Drive
Transpose Stretch
Beat Slicer
Formant Filter
Peak Filter
Tape Delay
Ramp Delay
Auto Bouncer
Bouncer

in that order.

When I import your TSI, I get a bunch of strange effects groupings and I can only imagine it is because we have a different order of effects. (which should really also be imported). That might also explain why you said you had to fix some bugs too.

Could you export your TSI with the big export button and also leave

Controller Mappings
Gui Layout
Effects Settings
Other Preferences and Settings

checked? I’ll then try your mapping again. Also post your effects order, should they be different than above.

scamo

I did import scamo’s first and added yours with the small import. That did not really matter even with the correct effects order.

I don’t believe the effect order matters any longer. At the older traktor versions when you were mapping you needed to put in the number of the effect (out of the order list). This has been resolved in the latest versions where they replaced the number with the name of the effect.

Just try it and move the beatmasher two spots down and you will see that your mapping will still work.

It’s the only thing I can think of that would cause this. Alinement’s mapping didn’t work at all for me, no matter how I imported it. The effects were all “out of order”.

scamo

I’ll take this back… experimented with it and it does matter :rage:

Hehehe… no problem there. I think we’ve discovered a big booboo with mappings in Traktor and at least for me it is good news, as now I can explain why so many people are having issues and we it is something I can fix. (And also give NI some hell about too.)
