Scratching? DDJ SX/SZ or Numark NS7 II?

Scratching? DDJ SX/SZ or Numark NS7 II?

Hey guys,

So I’ve been DJing for about 3 years now and I’m looking to upgrade. I’ve been using a Hercules RMX with VDJ and Traktor pro all this time but I realized I need more functionality and not syncing is difficult on a laggy usb controller. I’m looking to learn how to scratch and beatmatch and I know it can be done on both TTs and CDJs just different feels. I wanted to know whether the feel of TT and the overall feel functionality of the NS7II was worth it over a DDJ-SX. Also, any news about the SZ and whether it’s really worth the price over either of the 2 (I don’t see why I need 2 USB)?

You could add real turntables to your RMX and use timecode in VDJ?

Scratching is best on real turntables.

If you sticking with a controller I’d get the numark bc of the spinning platters and static response for fx, Eq’s etc…

You will want turntables. I started with an audio2 and a Hercules Steel and eventually went with a turntable/battle mixer/modular controller setup. The Hercules cross fader is no good for scratching. You’ll definitely want a mixer with a decent fader. Keep in mind that two turntables, a two channel mixer, and an X1 is about five feet wide and a lot more work setting up than just a controller. I got a CMD-PL-1 single jog controller to use when I play in cramped booths and I don’t plan on scratching.
