I’m building a music web site and I’m searching DJ’s that want to participate. Their music will be played in a on-line radio and they will have all the mixes and productions promoted on the web and also in Facebook, Twitter..etc… It’s a promote-project for your music and carreer, since I’m a student and I’m in my university final project.
good luck mate
i took 6 months to develop the initial build of my station
released it another 3 months later
and that was back in 2005
today its still running and always being more and more developed. Its fun
but the hardest part is getting the djs to actually do things on the station other than show up for their own live broadcasts
well it doesnt seem fait that they only show up to promote themselves
thats not a communal effort. its pretty selfish.
The djs should be promoting themselves yes but not all the time and ONLY because think of it
how many times in a week do you want an AVON rep coming to your door talking about the same products?
Eventually youd get tired and wouldnt listen anymore.
This is the biggest WRONG thing i see djs doing for many years and without realizing it, they keep asking “Why are people not reading my emails, going to my facebook, following on twitter, or downloading my mixes?”
The answer is becaus a SINGLE dj is flooding them with too many lipsticks in a week. NOw add to that 12 other djs
doing the same thing to those same people… what do you get as the recipient?
the one thing that drives a website is content so a dj posting once a week about thier mix isnt NEW content
its just a repeat… and so would the other djs on board so
Djs should
Help the site find news articles
Post regular messages on the boards
Promote a song from soundcloud they found to the site (and have the site admin push that info out)
Basically if a dj is going to be part of a major and massive sized website (like mine) they have to be part of the site
not just be a gnat in the site.
As the site administrator, its your job to do two things
continue to develop the site
continue to manage the “staff”
Everything else, should be handled by the members of the site otherwise its
A) the djs name just posting mixes over and over again - thats what the visitors see
B) the admins name just posting everything all over the place - thats what the visitors see
No one can do this alone. It takes a team doing it ALL and all together
For myself I do my best not to spam, I do post my mixes once a week or so on my FB account and maybe on some forums but that’s it. Realistically, I hardly get any hits that way anyways. Post Your Mix forums are mostly comprised of DJs posting and nobody replying or even listening.
