Set Midi Fighter Twister knob positions using MIDI

Hey everyone

Is there any way to reset the positions of the Midi Fighter Twister knobs using a MIDI message? I can change the colors easily (using channel 1) but I don’t seem to be able to change the positions of the knobs

Since they are endless rotary encoders it would be great if I could avoid having to twiddle each knob after starting a program, to send its current position.

Hey,
Sounds like your output commands are not assign… Did you add the output command for each individual control that you’re mapped on your device?

If you’re mapping inside Traktor please share your mapping+MFS file and I’ll take a look for you

Cheers,

Wait, how do I do that? I’ve only read the user manual and used the midi fighter utility. Is there a tool I should be using for this?

What software do you map your Twister to?

Actually I’m just sending/receiving MIDI messages directly using an HTTP->MIDI bridge. My primary use case isn’t for music, I’m actually using the Twister to ‘tune’ videogames I’m writing, transforming the midi messages into variables in the games (for example, gravity or player speed).

What would a mapping+MFS file be doing with Traktor? Is there any way I could see what MIDI messages you need to send to control the knob positions on the Twister?

That’s cool thing what you’re using your Twister for. There are several MIDI monitor softwares you can check Twister’s midi signals with:

OSX - Snooze: http://www.snoize.com
Windows - MIDI OX: http://www.midiox.com
Linux - QMidiRoute: http://qt-apps.org/content/show.php/QMidiRoute?content=112653
