I have a question about DJ’ing in a club, my first question is : Do all clubs offer a club-mixer? And is it normal to NOT use this mixer? Because i’m a digital mixer and i use an Omni Control, so i have my own soundcard. Second: Do most clubs offer club-turntables?
Welcome Risc12,
Yeah nearly all clubs got their own mixers but since you got the OmniControl you mix internally anyways.
Its up to you to use the club-mixer or not.
Most clubs also got turntables but you should ask beforehand.
Thank for your answers, i’m not going to mix in a club yet, but i was wondering if i needed any aditional hardware . Thanks!
Oh, and how about dj policy about playing other DJ’s mixes? Can i just mix in those songs?
If your talking about remixes of single songs then that’s fine. If your talknibg about downloading an hour long mix that another DJ did and playing that while your in the booth that’s a big no no.
I was talkin’ about a single song mix, i think everybody can figure out it’s not normal to play that ur the dj while ur actually play someone elses mix.
@First Touch , still going to do that. Because @photojojo says i can .
And @Mmauve , if i wanted to troll you i would say stuff like: “MP3’s are better then vinyls”, “MIDI control powns analogue mixing” etc.
I considered elaborating on the questionable nature of downloading a BradCee remix in the first place, but thought I would just leave that door open for someone else.
Back to the original question: If you do get a gig working a club one night, I would definitely ask the promoter what equipment is in the club that you will have access to use. If the club is not far, you might even drive out to check it out. If not, see if there are pics of the booth online, or ask the promoter to take a couple of pics of the booth just so you can get an idea of the layout.
