Hello, so i have a setup consisting of 2 XDJ 1000’s and a DJM 750.
With this setup, I have to play a local outdoor event wherein ill be dealing with a lot of requests.
To combat this problem, i want to be able to use my Laptop as a third channel on my mixer. So that whenever i get a request i can make the move as soon as possible on my laptop (which will be connected to a 3G/4G dongle)
A friend suggested me to connect my mixer to my laptop via USB and then run Virtual DJ on my laptop. But this wont help me use my laptop as a 3rd channel.
Or should i connect via an RCA to AUX cable from my mixer to my laptop
As my entire set will be played via USB Pendrive on my XDJ’s and individual requests can be taken care of by my laptop, can you tell me a step by step process as to what needs to be done here.
You can still run your music software (ie iTunes or Spotify) through a specific channel on the mixer when it’s plugged into USB. What laptop do you have? Also, it’s worth noting that some software (specifically, djay Pro for example… DISCLAIMER: I freelance for them) work with a Spotify Pro account. There are limitations, but (with djay Pro) you get full HID control on the Pioneer players.
Hi. Thanks for the reply.
I have windows based system. I checked out djay pro. But it seems to be for Mac systems.
I have right now connected my mixer to my laptop via usb. Can you tell me what software should i use and what settings need to be done from the software side of things on my laptop to use the 3rd channel on my mixer.
Hello Dan,
Thanks for your suggestion.
For now I’ve ordered the RCA to AUX cable and will run via rekordbox software.
I had it hooked up via USB to my laptop but then i didn’t know what to do next on the software side of things, as i want my laptop to act as a 3rd channel on my mixer.
Please do let me know how its done via USB.
Thanks
If you’ve got rekordbox DJ and have it plugged into the mixer via USB cable, it should detect it and assign the USB on the channel input select switch. Have your two XDJ channels assigned to LINE and use them as normal, but plug the laptop in to the mixer and run music requests on Deck 3 in the software.
I’ve never used rekordbox DJ nor the 750, so I’m guessing it’ll work like that.
Another option is just plugging your phone with Spotify in on the third channel.
Hello Dan,
Thanks for your reply.
I tried it via Virtual DJ through USB and it worked, even though there were noticeable crackling sounds during playback via USB. I think that might be due to some electrical issue. Need to check on that once. Also need to check how it works when connected via the RCA to Aux cable that i ordered.
Again, Thanks
