So I’ve been think about making a midi controller for a while. I’ve gotten some good ideas down in CAD, I’m just struggling in coming up with places to get the electronics from. I know Livid has their Brain system, but other then that, I don’t know of any boards that are specified to transmit MIDI or anything pertaining to audio.
If you can help me out in pointing me in the right direction, that’d be greatly appreciated!
I was going to build my own midi controller before I opted to just buy one. I was going to follow a tutorial I found showing how to make a midi fighter like controller with an arduino board. You just have to know how to program the arduino but if you look at the source code it should be somewhat simple. The only that that sucks is that you will have to be your own product support specialist.
i have made my own controller, and even considered doing that one on instructables, but by the time i added up everything for that one, it wasnt that much cheaper than buying a midi fighter
the cheapest and easiest way to make your own is with a toy that has simple on off buttons you can rewire, and a brain from a qwerty keyboard. this is a good method for the first time maker because you dont have to learn any coding, once its built you can just map the keystrokes to traktor or ableton , whatever.
heres a good jumpoff if youre interested…its a pretty fun project imo
