So right now I’ve got two technics 1200s, and I love them. I love how it feels to play on them. But the fact is, I never use them anymore. I never use turntables when I play out, I don’t have the desk space at home to have them out all the time to practice on, so they don’t get a lot of action.
I’m a college student, and I’ll be graduating this year, which means I could end up anywhere after that. It would be highly impractical to have these two giant heavy things to lug around when moving, perhaps even having to pay out the butt for shipping them somewhere…
On the other hand…I’m so attached to them because I hunted far and wide to get them within my budget and its how I learned to DJ…and they’re out of production so if I wanted to buy another pair when I’m settled again..fat chance.
I sold mine except for 1, I also have some parts from an older one in the event that something breaks. I pimped out my main one but powercoating it and adding blue LEDS (not the platter mod, maybe I’ll do that later).
I’d say if you really want to ditch them keep one or you’ll regret it. If I ever want to play a piece of vinyl I can.
Keep them. You will defiantly regret it down the road. I fell on hard times and had to sell mine. I believe there’s a certain bond a dj builds with their decks over the years. I’ve owned different decks since then it’s just not the same. I miss mine dearly.
I sold my first ones and regretted it until last year managed to get hold of a pair at a bargain price.. These i will keep forever.. But i still miss my original 1210’s
Keep 'em. I still have my 15 year old 1210’s, and at some point, I’m gonna pick up another deck or two for parts. Controllers, laptops, and all the other stuff we use at this point doesn’t have the same soul/attachment of a technics turntable for some reason.
Keep them, not only they’re an incredible piece of gear but they are collection since the end of the production. And as said before, you probably have history with those. Regrets aren’t worth the price
You will, and I say this very confidently, initially experience [ame=“Phantom pain - Wikipedia”]Phantom pain - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame]…this feeling will only be heightened by the overwhelming panic that drives you into the depths of remorse and depression, where the only thread of existence you recognize is truly vapid and alone, a total loss of self.
Your soul begins its rapid descent, with every beat of your heart, resonating to your very core.
As the cold sweats take hold, panic is replaced with a growing sense of urgency
to seek out, replace, protect, bond and cherish your newly found, once long lost.
…On a happier note…
It’s fantastic to see the love for vinyl roots from the controllerist community.
