I am using macbook pro 2.3 ghz and 4 gb ram and i5 proccessor. My friend told me that he installed a 8 gb ram (2X4GB) and now he said the mac is going wild.Should ı do it ? Anybody here did it ? And which brand ı should consider buying when upgrading it ? I use it for normal life and for using it traktor pro 2 and nothing more. What should ı do ?
I run 8gb of ram on my MPB 13" i7 and it is an absolute beast…I would advise you do it as it’s a fairy cheap upgrade. Sorry to say I can’t remember what brand of ram I got but questions like that can be answered by hitting up places like macrumours.com
Get Kingston RAM sticks. It’s a pretty straight forward process so don’t be afraid to do it yourself, just get the proper screwdriver and be careful not to scratch the bottom of your lappy.
Never hurts to have more though, especially if he’s going to be using it day to day - with 8gb you can literally throw anything at it and see no lag or performance lag.
No you’re right, it can’t hurt. Very marginal benefit for Traktor or ‘normal life’ use I’d say but if you want to spend some money and attack your computer with a screwdriver then why not?
I myself will be doing the same at some point next year with the more RAM/SSD combo
Of course it’s real. Most people don’t realize but there are memory DIMMs on the ram you already have that come locked by the manufacturer so your system can’t access it. You can “download more ram” in a sense that it unlocks the hidden cells that are already there. My computer is a lot faster after using that site you should try it.
You also have to be sure not to over do the RAM. Once you get to a certain point you aren’t helping. Not sure about Macs, but with PCs if you put too much ram in, you can actually slow it down.
4 - 8 gb of ram for traktor doesnt really make a difference… most programs cant use any more then 3 or 4 gb’s … I had 6 and upgradded to 8gb… I do a lot of programming, graphic design, 3d animation and rendering, photo and video editing and usually have a good few programs open at once… (photoshop, flash, sketchup, 3ds max etc…) and really didnt make two much of a difference… slighlty but not huge… with traktor… 2 or 3 gb is usually sufficiant.
