SlvrDragon50’s Evolving Setup

I coulda swore I made a thread here, but I couldn’t find it :expressionless:

Anyways, here goes!

I started with an Akai APC40 thinking it was a good DJ controller (saw 3LAU used it). I quickly discovered that it was not the kind of DJing I wanted to do as Ableton confused the crap out of me.

I quickly sold it and moved onto a Denon MC3000 which was a fantastic little controller. While I owned the MC3000, I had the opportunity to use a Traktor X1 (really neat controller, just not for me), Xone 42 (fantastic mixer, I should have never returned it), Traktor S2, Traktor S4 (neither really my type). I really loved the Xone 42 and decided to make the move to modular with an external mixer.

I picked up a Denon X1500 (beat to hell, still worked great though) and a Reloop Contour. Made a bunch of mixes with it, but I felt the Reloop lacked in a way since I could only control one deck at a time. I picked up a Zomo MC-1000 which I’ve been using the past year.

I finally took the plunge though to get a pair of CDJs since they were a steal at the price I got (800 for a CDJ2000 w/ hard shell case???). I also managed to snag a Pioneer DJM800 for 300. Oddly enough, I told myself I was going to get Denon equipment because I believed Pioneer to be overpriced, but here I am with all Pioneer gear :tada: Absolutely love making the move to CDJs though. Mixing is so much more fun.

I’ve got a pair of Mackie MR8Mk2 monitors which are AMAZING for the price. Only other monitor I liked was the Yamaha HS8M, but I couldn’t afford them.

Anyways, enough rambling, picture!

Messy at the moment since it sits right next to my computer/work desk, and I’m beginning to move out. I’m hoping to set up a dedicated DJing desk at my next apartment

Next goal: get a second CDJ2000 to replace the CDJ1000MK3.

Moved to Illinois for med/grad school. New setup.

Nice!

Looking good!

Where at in IL??

I’m at Urbana-Champaign.
