Small Home Studio

Big desk?

Pah, every home studio needs a JERKER desk.

LoLz, Jerkers are almost as cool as the Expedit of IKEA.

Wow, the jerker desk are awesome. Bigger and better than what I have. Work space is an issue for me so… take my suggestion and get a good desk. If you have a keyboard over 25 keys you will need a bigger desk, or a stand I guess. :stuck_out_tongue:

As mentioned before, i’d also recommend starting small with Ableton and a controller like the SL49 (or maybe a novation nocturn if you can’t/don’t want to play keys)

If you are starting out, then you will not really get the benefit of having several pieces of kit that perform x function… Mastering 1 or 2 things, then adding to that when needed is cheaper, more rewarding and much less intimidating…

You may well find that you don’t actually need anything else at all… Or if you do, a new model of x piece of kit will be available (or the old model much cheaper) by that time

BCR > Novation Nocturn.

yea good call nemo. my speaker opinions are swayed due to my bass addiction. i got a nice old amp and my jamos, i find the quality at any level amazing, but all ive had to compare is tiny computer speaker setups and my parents putz, old sony stereo speakers-yukkus.

on another note, the most important part of your studio (see picture)

Hey K, I do agree with you regarding nemo’s call…

Though I made my better productions on a natural high, not a herbal one.

thats one thing i have heard from anyone who produces music - electronic or not
it all starts with the monitors
sure a good DAW helps but you have to hear what you are producing

I seem to DJ better on a herbal high so maybe i will produce better too, or maybe i will be too lagged to get anything done lol

I used to suffer from the last when, than I just stopped using it.

its legit to be talkin about this on djtt right? i dont wanna be stepping out of line…

Ghehehe… I think it is not that bad, as long as you don’t help the youngsters to addiction?
(But that’s just me. )

agreed… not cool in school  however i beleive early education is important in reducing the blind stupidity our societys seem so eager to hold on to.
ignorance is bliss huh

im way off track maybe i should start a thread for all ma smokers heh

we’re simply discussing the advantages/disadvantages of smoking whilst mixing/producing

good call. as long as one moderates there shouldnt be any worries. no worries at all. i love it when something goes so right that i get pins and needles up my spine and my mind dissapears with the music until i realised i just screwed up the mix cos i was trippin. as for weather pot will enhance music ability…well its personal and i don’t think its possible to prove with or without scientific testing, it relies only on the willpower and stability of the user.
yay 2 more hours until i finish work and have a light cone and beers in the sun. AND its friday!!! sick!

i think it depends on a number of things like how they handle de 'erb, how they mix, what they mix maybe. but i think its totally subjective. i might think i mix better but i might just be stoned and thinking i mix better lol. its in the eye (or ear) of the beholder. although if everyone listening was high then im sure the party would be rockin lol

yea hard out. its makes what normally would have been a great gig into a bonded collective buzz (im starting to talk about harder drugs now). communication happens on some weird new levels lol

its funny how edm sounds better when your out of it. i havent mixed on anything harder. i would probably loose track of time and forget to mix the next song in lol. too busy dancin and being a fool

im partial to the occasional pre-gig rail off the jogwheel
wat yu mean by edm?

haha nice dude
Electronic Dance Music

oh…duh
yea i wouldnt recomend it-if i have too much i cant see the pooter screen and being as high as everyone else usually end up dancin around like a tard behind the decks lol
