Some advice please.

hey guys, ive been creeping this forum for a couple weeks now. and im really excited to start digital djing. im just curious as to how i should start off.. what sort of products and software to use. what to start off with, and maybe you could tell me how you learned and progressed. any help is appreciated
thanks:slight_smile:

I started mixing on virtual DJ, using nothing but a mouse and the internal soundcard. I then got introduced to Traktor 3 and I never looked back! I purchased a vci 100 and a few months later an Audio 4 interface. Then I finally upgraded to traktor pro. All I need now is a new laptop (as this one is slowly getting worse and worse as its about 5 years old) and some Mackie monitors.

I am still a beginner, but I got started by buying the vci-100 and a m-audio fast track pro sound card. I used the trial version of Traktor for a while and then upgraded to Traktor Pro.

if you don’t got enough money buying a vci + soundcard, i would sugest a bcd3000 to start up and see for some month if you like it. if so sell it and get a better controller

the thing is i have a power book g4. and it can’t run virtual dj and alot of softwares because it doesnt have a intel processor. so i have to buy a new laptop, a midi controller and software so im looking at a hefty price. whcih will prob take me a little bit to save up. is there anything that i can do for the mean time to learn. and does anyone know of some software that would work with my laptop at the moment? thanks

rocked my first party with traktor pro, a firebox and my trackpad :stuck_out_tongue: you just gotta make what you got work for what you want.

Can’t you run traktor on a G4? :s

You can only run earlier versions.

give deckadance a try, should be able to run on that.

Id use Traktor 3 before i used deckadance personally.

Agrees on T3 .

All due to MIDI and other possibilities within T3.
